Hi I'm Allan

I'm a dad, a husband and a designer. I'm an ordinary guy and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband to a lovely lassie and a father of three beautiful daughters. I may be going grey, getting slower at running around but I still feel like and act like a big kid. I'm the middle child of seven, which I think makes me the most well rounded of the bunch.. the others may disagree! Professionally I'm a designer but when I'm not at work I'm a keen amateur photographer and enjoy various sports from Volleyball to power kiting. I'll have a go at pretty much anything except football (soccer) which is an unusual thing when you grow up in Scotland, trust me. If you know me and ever have a question about Mormon's and their beliefs, please ask. I'd love to help.

Why I am a Mormon

I felt something missing in my life, a void which was hard to explain. Don't get me wrong, life was good - I had a good job, lovely home, good health and most of all a loving wife and family but still something was missing. When my wife returned to church I decided after a few months to find out for myself if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints really was God's true church. I read a scripture (Ether 12:6) in the Book of Mormon "...dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith". I had to put my faith into action. I started attending meetings, reading the Book of Mormon, praying and met with the Missionaries. Made various changes to how I lived. After months of this, I got my answer, not from a person but on a spiritual basis through undeniable feelings, different from anything I'd experience before. I then knew It was indeed the true church of Jesus Christ on Earth. I had gained a testimony of the truth and from that day I decided to do all I could to live the gospel in my life. That was in 2009, since then I've had the amazing privilege to visit the Preston England Temple to be sealed to my wife and children for eternity. Families really can be together forever! That void in my life was gone and life has never been better. Although it's not always easy or convenient, working hard to be a worthy member of the church and disciple of Jesus Christ is more than worth it. I love the gospel and am proud to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Having faith in Jesus Christ and in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints plays a major role in all areas of my life; how I act as a husband, father, employee and more. I know what's expected of me and how I should live my life. I'm a youth leader at church (Young Men's President) which gives me the opportunity to teach the gospel and to encourage and support the youth. It's something I absolutely love. I'm also aware of the responsibility of being a worthy example to both them and my children. I'm also a 'home teacher', meaning I visit my assigned families monthly to share a gospel message from the first presidency of the church. This is also an opportunity to increase friendship and support of the families.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Allan
The introduction of the Book of Mormon gives you a simple promise that through sincere prayer anyone who reads from it can know of its truth. This witness comes from God via the Holy Ghost. This is just one small example. Show more Show less
