Hi I'm Hal

I'm into mountains, surf guitar and making things. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a small town kid from the Rocky Mountains a little surprised to find myself working as a design consultant in a big city. I've been married 23 years to my best friend and I'm the father of three great teenagers. I play the electric guitar, and I love to play and sing with my daughters. I'm not very good, but so far they don't seem to mind. :) I love to design and make things. I enjoy the creative process applied to products, machines and services at work and to furniture projects and remodeling tasks at home. It seems I'm constantly relearning how everything takes longer to complete that expected. Every once in awhile I get back to the Rockies and my rugged brothers take me up some mountain. Few things touch my heart like seeing my kids do the right thing. Most of the time we enjoy one another and have a loving atmosphere at home (a credit to my wife and the kids). Our lives are busy and a bit sleep deprived, but it all seems to work out somehow as we try to do the right things.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a large, active Mormon family. Over time, the teachings and the examples of my parents sunk deep into my heart. I have felt the Holy Ghost confirm to me the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through experiencing the consequences of my choices - good and bad - I have come to know the sure and certain joy that comes from following Heavenly Father's plan.

How I live my faith

I strive to hold fast to the commandments given to us by our loving Heavenly Father. We pray each morning and evening as a family. We reserve each Monday night as family time - for planning, for discussing the Gospel and for fun. I currently serve as the bishop our congregation, and therefore work closely with many other members to prepare, coordinate and facilitate the activities and services of the church. I have the privilege of working closely with individuals as they actively apply the nurturing power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I love to be with the youth of the church as they participate in their various activities. Even though it is an ongoing effort to balance church service, family time, career demands, and personal needs, I see regular evidence of the hand of God in my life. All these things bring me joy.
