Hi I'm Kirtley

I love life, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to move- to sweat- to get dirty....rock climbing, mountain and road biking, running marathons, triathalons, canoeing, backpacking, fishing and camping are part of what makes me me. I love to travel. Spain, Russia, El Sal, Mexico, and Honduras are some of the amazing places I have had the chance to visit. Learning--I am a fan of continually learning something new. Try new things, explore, push yourself, test out what may be hidden talents- just go for it! I am a a nursing student. I love to help others, and seek to share my abundant blessings. Love life and it will love you right back. That's what I try to do, and I sure get a lot back.

Why I am a Mormon

I can't imagine life without the true, restored gospel. I was born a Mormon, but as I have grown up I have made it a point to decide for myself whether or not I really believed in the doctrines of the church. As I have read the Book of Mormon daily, gone to church, and listenend to the true prophet, I have felt true peace and joy. As I apply what I learn, I want to be a better person. I am becoming more christlike. When I pray to know if this is the true church, if the Book of Mormon is true, if Joseph Smith was a true prophet, I feel peace, and I know it's all true. It's a simple answer, a simple feeling, and it has come bit by bit. The doctrines and truths of the restored gospel have shaped who I am today. I have been guided so much as I follow the commandments and seek personal revelation, relying on the gift of the Holy Ghost. I love being a member of the Savior's true church!

How I live my faith

I served a mission in the Philippines and loved it! It was amazing to see the blessing of the church spreading across the world. I continue to enjoy the gospel by being involved in Relief Society in my ward. I love getting to know the girls in my ward better- getting out of my comfort zone, or meeting girls I normally would not have become friends with. Some of my favorite memories from being involved in my faith come from serving in rest homes. We would sing, play music and visit with the elderly when I was a teenager. I got addicted to old people, and have enjoyed serving them, working with them and learning from them ever since. It's been a big part of my life. Right now I am taking an amazing Book of Mormon class and am learning a ton! It's fun getting insights from my professor about how the Bible and Book of Mormon compliment each other. I love being involved with the church, it makes my life more fulfilling and exciting.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

We need a Savior in order to return to Heavenly Father again. Before this earth life we chose to have the chance to progress. In order to progress and become like God we must leave his presence to be tested and get a body. Because of the Savior, we can repent when we have made mistakes here on earth. Through repentance we become more like our Father in Heaven. We progress and become happier. We are now all here because of our choice before this life. The Savior is the reason that we can become better and return and live with God again. Show more Show less
