Hi I'm Jeff

I grew up in CA, went to school in UT and MI, and now live in CT with my wife and 4 children.

About Me

I grew up as the oldest of 4 children. When I was 8, my parents divorced. While serving as a missionary in Russia, I met the woman who became my wife a couple years later (she was also a missionary). I completed a PhD in behavioral and cognitive neuroscience in 2006, and moved with my family (3 kids at the time) to CT. At present, I have 4 children. Professionally, I do brain imaging research on Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and related disorders.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was born, both of my parents were members of The Church of Jseus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS church). However, I can honestly say that, like many who are baptized later in life, I became converted when I was 17/18. Like most teenagers, I rebelled some against my mom, thought I knew more than others. While I never strayed too far from the gospel, as my mom once said, I'm ratherh good at bending the rules. In any case, I decided to go on a mission at 19, and my life has been getting better ever since.

How I live my faith

I believe that faith can be a wonderful addition to any life - no matter how good your life was initially, it can only get better. At present, part of my faith is being a husband and father. Those are probably the roles I enjoy most in life. In addition to that, I'm currently serving in my local ward as the ward clerk - basically, I help the other leaders with all of the records pertaining to our local unit. I also enjoy home teaching, which entails going to the homes of a few other members of our congregation a time or two each month.
