Hi I'm Duncan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a bit prickly and I sometimes rub people up the wrong way due to my attempts at humor to defuse tense situations. I do not tolerate bullies and I always try to defend the underdog or the oppressed. I'm open-minded and I'll engage in church doctrine to the best of my understanding occasionally if I think I can help others or learn something. A dialogue is never two monologues trying win an argument over each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I found that my lifestyle did not help me achieve the goals I'd set for myself. I needed a plan for life and once I had that I found it my values matched very closely to those of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I had not made any plans that took in to account the afterlife since I didn't understand that but with time the I came to understand God's plan as presented by this Church. I know I can be become better and with the Lord's help I can achieve any goal.

How I live my faith

I constantly review my actions and thoughts and compare them back to my understanding of how I can be the best version of myself. God plan is about the future, not the past, is about who you will become not what you have been and even though I find myself lacking, I hope that I lift the bar higher each time I improve so I'm reaching to become a better and better version of myself each day. It's a lofty goal but without a direction, I'd quickly become the worst version of myself and no-one wants that.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Duncan
I pay it and I trust that the Lord will put those in place to best use these funds. It is used to build temples, chapels and any buildings that the church owns and needs to maintain. It is used to help the missionary programs and materials used in church Sunday school in chapels, family history work and for those that the church needs to employ that can not be carried out through volunteers.
