Hi I'm Melani

I like being outdoors, backpacking and cycling. I like being indoors too! Playing piano and spending time with my kids!

About Me

I like being outdoors by myself or with family and friends... backpacking, and hiking and cycling. I like to be indoors too! Playing piano and helping my kids with their homework or reading. I love art. I like to make prints and drawings... I love to study about artists and their lives. I especially love folk art and street art... art made by regular people, to express their ideas. I think that everyone needs an opportunity to create something... a cake, a garden, a quilt, a sock hat, a painting, a poem, or a science experiment!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that every good thing that I have in my life... my husband, kids, interests and achievements, have all come to me because I have been able to know and follow after the truths of the gospel as they are revealed through the Mormon faith. I know that there are many good people of many different faiths... but Mormonism speaks to my heart and mind in a way no other faith experience I have ever had. The expectation that you change your lifestyle to reflect your love for the Savior and how important He is to you... that is something that continues to draw me into the Mormon faith.

How I live my faith

I play the piano for the children's classes at our church. I have enjoyed it more than I can really say. I like to serve in our church; working with people different than myself really helps me to understand what being a Christian means... I think that being able to find out what is great about other people and love and respect them is something that I need to do to become more like Christ... serving in my church and my community is way for me to do that. I also have the opportunity to help each year in our community with a large youth service project... Go Global Youth Service Day!
