Hi I'm Allysa

I'm a Mormon! I love music! I love my family and friends! I love this gospel! I will be forever grateful to my Savior!

About Me

I like to consider myself a happy person who loves life! For the last three years I have been attending Utah State University, pursuing my bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. Within the training, I have had the incredible opportunity to travel to Europe as well as places like San Diego to participate in programs to learn more about opera. So I guess we could say I like to sing. Ok I love to sing. I love opera. I love sharing the gift of music with people. There is a special spirit that comes through the power of music that we can all connect to no matter where you are from or what language you speak. One of the people I have worked with said it so important to share truth through our music, and that is my goal in music. To share truth. I also like to consider myself a people person! I love my family. My parents and two sisters are my best friends. I can tell them anything. I love them so, so, so much! I love my friends. I have been blessed with so many. Between school and traveling, I have had the incredible opportunity become friends with some of the most amazing people. Every single one of them has blessed my life. I like to have fun. Just ask my family and friends, I like to be a little crazy sometimes (ok maybe most the time:) and laugh about the silly things that I do. Finally, most recently I have been called to serve a mission in Tampa, Florida, Spanish speaking. I cannot wait to fulfill this dream and dedicate my time for the next 18 months to serving the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in a Mormon family. But that's not the only reason I am a Mormon. Honestly, I can't imagine living any other way. The gospel brings such happiness and peace to me in my life that is not possible to achieve any other way. Not only does it bring happiness to me but to everyone who is truly a disciple of Christ. Everything in the gospel make sense and fits together. I am a Mormon because I have a testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I have felt His Spirit and love for me. I am not perfect, which sometimes is hard for me, but through the gospel and the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I find peace and strength that helps me be a little better every day. He created this world and gave Himself as a ransom for me so that I could come experience life to the fullest, make mistakes, repent, learn, grow, and strive everyday to come closer to Him.

How I live my faith

I try to do my best everyday to live what I know. I strive to live the teachings of Jesus Christ and to live worthily of His Spirit. I read my scriptures everyday, even if it's only a verse, to learn and to invite the Spirit. I communicate daily with my Heavenly Father through prayer, expressing my gratitude, concerns and needs. I attend church every Sunday to hear lessons from fellow members and try to gain understanding from their life experiences of living the gospel. I live my faith by following the standards of the church, in modesty and language, in morality and health. I know that I am not perfect and have much to improve upon, but I know with the help of my Savior, through His Atonement and love for me, I will be able to achieve all things He would have me do. I try to live as Christ did, by being faithful, happy and a friend to everyone I come in contact with.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Allysa
We do! But as our third article of faith says "We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly". We use the Bible to learn more about our Savior, Jesus Christ and His gospel. It is also amazing to me how the Bible and the Book of Mormon work together and strengthen our testimony of Christ. These sacred books were written by prophets of the Lord! We can and do learn so much from them! How blessed we are to have these wonderful books of scripture! Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Allysa
Being a Mormon is like trying to be the best person you can be everyday and continually striving to come closer to God through the way we live. We are taught about the great plan of happiness, that we are children of a loving Heavenly Father who wants us to return to Him. With that knowledge comes the desire to know Him, love Him and worship Him by living the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through a personal commitment to pray, study His word in the scriptures, and attend church meetings and activities we gain a personal testimony of our divine worth as His children. That testimony and knowledge bring happiness and understanding to our lives. It helps us to be more loving and caring, and reminds us how important our families are as well as those around us, because we all are children of God. What an incredible thing to share and to be!
