Hi I'm Kristen

I'm a grad student, a new mom, an avid reader, a New Yorker living in the South -- and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married to my goofy best friend, finishing a PhD in microbial genetics, and enjoying being a new mom to our adorable baby boy. I spend my days in the lab doing research. When I'm not at lab, you'll find me playing with my son or relaxing with my husband. In my spare time, I love to curl up with a good book, watch movies, hike with family, and eat yummy food.

Why I am a Mormon

I crave the stabilizing influence the gospel brings to my life--the hope, the peace, and the simplicity of it all. I want to feel God's love and I want my son to have that knowledge. The doctrine of eternal families gives me peace and comforts me when I miss family members who've died. And I love that we have a living Prophet today--it shows me that God still cares today!

How I live my faith

The most important way I live my faith is by trying to act as the Savior would each day. (And then saying sorry when I don't.) I also pray and read scriptures daily to help remind me of God's love and feel of His Spirit. I attend meetings each Sunday & visit with other women in the congregation.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes, isn't that exciting! I cannot imagine what I would do without my sweet baby boy or my husband! We believe that families can be together in heaven & couples married forever--not "til death do you part". That is one of the main reasons we have temples--temples are the place were we believe we can be linked as a family in a "sealing" ceremony to allow us to be together with our living or deceased relatives.
