Hi I'm Jon
I'm a husband and father. I'm a physician/scientist. I work at a large University Medical School. I'm a Mormon.
I am in my early 40's, a father of four, husband of one. I'm an academic OB/GYN doctor in the midwestern US. I have worked extensively with the Boy Scouts of America. I love to run (7 half marathons and 2 full), snow ski and scuba dive.
Why I am a Mormon
The easiest answer is because I was raised Mormon. The real answer is because I have learned for myself the truth. You can only live on your parents' answers and their faith for a short time. As a teen-ager, my parents seemed to know less and less what it was like to be an adolescent and young adult. I began to question what they had always taught me and had to find out for myself. I began reading the Book of Mormon daily--every day no matter what time. I began to believe more fully and love what Jesus Christ did for me. I felt the Holy Ghost more and learned to recognize his influence. I wasn't perfect and I didn't see visions or perform any major miracles, but I developed the ability to feel the Holy Ghost confirm truth and to feel when He didn't confirm truth. I still use that ability today, combined with study and knowledge, in all aspects of my life as husband, father, physician and friend.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by trying to be an "example of the believers". I volunteer my time in the community and the world. I strive to be a good husband and father. I teach by example and hope that others will follow, especially the youth in our Boy Scout troop.
