Hi I'm Bret

I am a father of 5, an orthodontist and a farmer/rancher/horse trainer.

About Me

I am a father of 5 beautiful children. I am an orthodontist in a midsized town. When I am not straightening teeth or going to a sporting event like soccer or basketball that my kids are playing, I raise, and train reining horses. We also raise a few cows.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church with parents that also were raised in the church. In reality my genealogy of being a member stems back to the early days of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. My ancestors came across the plains with the early pioneers, pulling handcarts. They were some of the early settlers in Northern Utah and Southern Idaho. Even though I grew up in the church, I still had to come to know for myself that the gospel of Jesus Christ was for me. While on my mission, I had spiritual experiences that gave me a sure knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, and is my Savior. I came to a spiritual conversion that Joseph Smith saw and talked face to face with our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ. Since that time, I have strived to live my life in a manner that would make my Savior proud of me.

How I live my faith

I am not embarrassed of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. I have wonderful Christian people that work with me in my orthodontic practice. We have a prayer every morning before starting to work. It helps to invite the spirit of the lord into the workplace. I also serve in the leadership of our congregation. I am in charge of the youth, 12 and under. I help organize and carry out activities that inspire to come unto Christ.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The temple is the house of the Lord. Looking back to the old testament, not everyone was allowed to enter the temple. Today entrance into the temple is more available than in old testament times. Even with this availability, worthiness to enter the Lords house is very important. Therefore to enter the temple you have to live the commandments and be an active member of the church. There is nothing secret about the temple, sacred yes, not secret. The information that is learned in the temple is open to anyone who is a worthy member of the church. It is not open to the public do to the sacred nature of the ordinances that are performed in the temple. The wonderful things that are done in the temple are doing baptisms for those people who died before accepting the gospel of Jesus Christ and being baptized for themselves. Also performed in the temple are eternal marriages. Marriages that are unions that will transcend this earthly life, not just until death do you part.
