Hi I'm Vic Abbott

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello, My name is Vic and I am a grandfather of two grandchildren, father of 5 children and a husband married to my lovely bride for almost 24 years. More than anything I enjoy spending time with my family - we love to travel - meet new people and see new places around the United States.

Why I am a Mormon

I am the eldest of 6 and was raised by a single mom. There was a neighbor family living on the road behind our home who befriended our family and invited us to attend church and family activities with their children. If it meant getting out to go somewhere, we were in. We attended primary, mutual and church with their family for quite awhile when they asked us if we wanted to join their church. With our mother's approval, we were baptized. That was 45 years ago. I am so happy that our neighbors invited me, along with my sisters, to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For me over the years - the church provided for me with principles that have helped me grow into the person that I have become. The example of kind neighbors has given me the example that I have shared with my family over these years. Four of our children decided on their own to join the church. Our son like me served an honorable mission for the church. My four children, now grown up - 3 daughters and a son were married and sealed for eternity in the temple with their choice mates. I am very happy with my life so far - a life modeled after the teachings of Jesus Christ, our elder brother, the son our of living Father in Heaven. I know in my heart the way I have chosen to live is what my Father in Heaven wants for me - to return and live with him as an eternal family.

How I live my faith

I live my life in serving others - not just my own family, but those that I work with, socialize with and people I do not know. My wife and I have served in the Scouting program for years - culminating with our son becoming an Eagle Scout. I have worked with other young men that have attained the same goal of being an Eagle Scout. I have taught youth the same principles that I learned as a youth growing up. I am old enough to have seen a number of the young men and women that I have taught become excellent young fathers and mothers that have held true their commitments to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. The example Jesus Christ gave to us along with the principles he taught us helps us become better people, sons and daughters of our living Father in Heaven. One of many service projects that comes to mind is when our young men and young women helped a local school for the blind clean, paint, and refinish their large play ground. They even got to help out in the classrooms organizing book shelves, desks and learning centers. The youth loved being able to serve other children and bring big smiles to their faces. They all appreciated and loved what were were able to do for them. Christ taught that when we serve others we are actually serving our Father in Heaven. I love helping others - its who I am... its who my Savior wants me to be.
