Hi I'm Heidi

I'm a new nurse. I'm a new wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 22 and I am finishing my bachelor's degree in nursing this semester. I recently married my best friend forever in the temple! I love decorating and sewing and reading. I also enjoy biking, cooking, and traveling with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all of my life, but as a teenager I struggled with remembering what I really believed. I began having some difficult times as I doubted who I was and what I was supposed to be doing with my life. One sad and lonely night I was driving my parent's car home. I felt too tired and depressed to think anymore, so I tried to find some music to listen to. I could only find church CD's and that was not at all what I wanted to listen to so I just drove in silence. Finally the silence was too much and I reluctantly pushed one into the CD player. A children's song came on: "I am a Child of God". The truth of the words instantly brought tears to my eyes. Though I hadn't felt it in a long time, I knew then that I am a child of my Heavenly Father. He does love me! He knows exactly who I am and what I do and think and feel. I am his baby and he will always take care of me if I will just let him. I am a Mormon because I know now that I have to have Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father to be happy. I believe that they have created this church for us so that we can learn how we can prepare ourselves to live with them again, just like we did before we came to this earth. And living with them again is the happiest thing I can imagine!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a nice person to everyone. I try to be faithful to Heavenly Father by doing the things he wants me to do, such as go to church on Sunday and help his church by teaching my friends and family. I live my faith by trying to be a good wife to my wonderful husband. Making big changes are hard! With Heavenly Father's help I can be a little bit better everyday and with Jesus Christ's help I can change and be forgiven when I do something wrong. I try to live my faith at work and school also by always being honest and doing the best job I can. When we work hard at the really important things in life, we are blessed with success and are able to work even harder!

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

We don't have paid clergy because Heavenly Father blesses us in ways other than money for our service at church. When I do a good job in my church service, Heavenly Father helps me to have plenty of time and energy for my homework. He helps me to get along with my family better, to work harder at my job, and to budget my money better. Our church responsibilities aren't chores for us, they are blessings! Show more Show less
