Hi I'm Kari

I love life, my husband and my children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful husband, I have 5 children ranging from age 7 to 9 months. I am a full time mother right now. My three hobbies are: my children, family history - studying about and finding all of my distant relatives in England and scrapbooking/photo editing on the computer. I am a BYU and a Ricks College graduate and am a Registered Nurse. I like learning to do new things. Some of the things that I have learned to do: sew clothes and costumes for my children, cross-stitch, chop wood, garden, preserve food from the garden, roto-till, make bread and teaching piano lessons to my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I found out for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church. I was born a member of the church, but when I was 14 years old I read the Book of Mormon in 31 days and as I said my prayer that night telling Heavenly Father that I had completed the Book of Mormon - I knew with all of my heart and everything in me that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live, that They love me and that The Book of Mormon is true.

How I live my faith

I try to teach my children about Jesus Christ every chance that I can. I try to read at least one scripture story to my younger children every day. I read scriptures with my sons before they go to school. And I have my own scripture study almost every day. I want to teach my children that they are children of God. I want them to know that they can trust in God, pray to Him and follow Him. If they have learned that then I will be a successful mother. I help anyone who is interested, find their distant relatives, and organize them onto a family history program on the computer. I love figuring out the mysteries of family history. The internet has opened up so many sources for finding your ancestors.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

First, there must be a belief and understanding that pornography is WRONG. It is wrong for men. It is wrong for women. It destroys individual lives, relationships with others and families. Husbands and wives have to have open and frank conversation about pornography. There must be complete honesty with each other. Pornography cannot be allowed into the home, in any form, by the parents, or anyone else if children are not going to be subjected to it at an early age. If parents bring it into the home, in the form of a PG-13 or R rated nude scene, even if it is only for a second - the children learn that this is okay - and it sparks a curiosity. Parents are usually the ones who provide the pornography to their children, indirectly, by allowing them to watch evening television or movies with "only one bad part." Even women that are dressed immodestly sends the wrong message to children. There needs to be filters on the computers, also time limits. The internet needs to be shut off at night, when curious boys, or bored men might want to sneak a peek. Parents need to have open communication with their children about what they are exposed to at school and from their friends. It is okay to not allow pornography in the home. That doesn't mean that this will stop children/youth and adults from getting it somewhere else. But you can make your own home a safe haven from the world, and from the devil's influences.
