Hi I'm Celes

I'm a wife and a stay-at-home mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town and am the oldest of five kids. I love my family and now have the privilege of starting my own family which has been a sweet experience. It started with marrying my handsome husband in the Salt Lake City Temple; a year later our little girl joined our family. I currently have the best job in the world--being a stay-at-home mom and love it! Besides loving my family and being a mom, I also enjoy sports. Volleyball is by far my favorite to play. I also enjoy being in the water/swimming, playing in the summer sun, running, blogging, writing in my journal, and music. Playing the piano has always been something I enjoy. I have always wanted to learn a new language (one day I will have succeeded). I have so much to be grateful for!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. Initially I became a member of the church because I was raised in an active family with parents who took me to church. Even though I was raised by good parents who taught me what was right, I found out for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church. I read the Book of Mormon all the way through for the first time when I was in high school and prayed to know if it was true. For me the answer didn't come right away. I prayed for a few months actually before my answer came. It came as I read the words in Doctrine and Covenants section 6 verses 13-16 and 22-24. I had an overwhelming feeling come over me as I realized I had known the Book of Mormon was true. I had felt it. These verses in D&C also made me more aware of God's love for me and of His existence. That experience and others have helped strengthen me and give me reason to live life to the fullest. The gospel gives me hope. I know I am not here by chance. God sent me here to accomplish something great. He sent me here to be tested and to learn. He sent me here to have sorrow, trials and make mistakes but in return to have so much more happiness and blessings. He trusted me with agency and the ability to make my own choices. I have found when I align my decisions with His will, I have been blessed beyond what I could see with my own eyes at the time. The guidelines and commandments the church has don't restrict me. They help me live better. I love the gospel!

How I live my faith

The way we live reflects who we are. I try to live in a way that reflects the gospel. I attend church every Sunday to learn and to partake of the sacrament. I am a visiting teacher and have the opportunity to visit and get to know specific women who attend the same ward as me. I read the scriptures everyday and try to learn more. I pray to my Heavenly Father often which means at least twice a day. Usually it is much more than that. I try to be aware of others. I like smiling as often as I can to people whether I know them or not. I try to be a good wife, mother, friend, daughter, sister, cousin, and granddaughter. I love other people, especially my family, and try showing it in my words and actions. I try to live by the principles I am taught. I dress modestly and feel good about myself because of it.
