Hi I'm Heidi

I am a dancer. I am a wife. I am a Texan. And I am a Mormon!

About Me

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. At 3 years old I took my first dance class, fell in love, and have been dancing ever since. In high school, I was a member of my school's drill team. I had the opportunity to perform solos for my fellow classmates, family, and friends. My favorite solo was a lyrical solo to "Stand in Holy Places". Every time I performed that solo, I felt the Spirit so strong. Dance has always been a way for me to express the deepest feelings of my heart. It is a way for me to bear my testimony of the Savior, and show gratitude to my Heavenly Father for the body and spirit that He has given me. After graduating high school, I began my college career at BYU in Provo, Utah. I had the wonderful opportunity of being a member of the Cougarettes, BYU's dance team. It was such a wonderful experience to dance with so many incredible young women who shared the same standards and beliefs that I did. I loved being able to travel around the country as an ambassador for our school, and for the Church that espouses it. After 3 years at BYU, I left on my LDS mission to Independence, Missouri. There, I was able to stand as a representative of Jesus Christ, and declare His restored gospel to His children. My mission helped to shape me into the person I am today. I'm so grateful for the spiritual growth that I experienced and continue to experience as I daily live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Today, I am back in Houston with my loving husband, and could not be happier!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that God is my loving Heavenly Father. I know that He knows me individually, and desires for me to be happy. To ensure my happiness, He set forth a plan that allows me (and all of His children) to return to live with Him someday. The central figure in that plan is our brother, Jesus Christ. Through Christ's loving sacrifice, I have received hope time and time again as I fall short. I find comfort in the scriptures, specifically the Book of Mormon. I am a Mormon because I have received a special witness from the Spirit that the Book of Mormon is true. I am a Mormon because, I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints contains the fulness of the gospel, and is Christ's church here upon the earth today. Christ is the living head of our church. He communicates with our living Prophet, Thomas S. Monson. These are just a few of the countless reasons of why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I was fortunate enough to grow up in a Christ-centered home. My parents lovingly taught us Christ's doctrine. As I began to search, ponder, and pray about the things that I had been taught, I developed my own testimony. I had a testimony that I was a child of God, and that Jesus Christ was the Savior and Redeemer of the world. I also knew the Book of Mormon to be true. But a knowledge of those things then, could not sustain me forever. Instead of relying on the testimony I had yesterday, I live my faith by letting the gospel be an integral part of my every day life. A testimony is having a knowledge of truth, conversion is daily acting upon that knowledge. A testimony can be drawn back to a personal experience where the Spirit confirmed that a doctrine of the gospel was true. Conversion is not a singular event, but a life-long process. A testimony is what you believe; conversion is who you are becoming. I live my faith by doing the small and simple things each and everyday, that looking back have made a huge difference. I live my faith by striving each day to become more like the One who I put my faith in!
