Hi I'm Brystal

I'm a typical mother of two. I'd say I'm nothing special, but I am because I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of two. I'm American, but I live in Australia. I love learning and speaking foreign languages. My husband is Australian, but we met in Russia. I want to go back to University to finish my degree in Linguistics. I would also love to learn more foreign languages, especially Arabic. I also love to sing and listen to uplifting music.  I miss my family and my home in the U.S. Living away from them is hard, but doing hard things makes me stronger. I love Australia and I love the opportunity to live in and see new places. All up, I have moved over 25 times in my life. I take comfort in knowing that wherever I am in the world I have a family community at church. We take care of each other and we all know what's important - God, family and friends. Because I know how God sees me, loves me and blesses me, my life has meaning, even though I'm only a Mother - I mean, I'm happy to be just a Mum.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have always been able to feel God's love for me and as I keep His commandments, I too am blessed with Christ-like love for others. Life is very tough at times. Problems and weaknesses seem to constantly challenge myself and my loved ones such as depression and other mental and physical illnesses, which is why I am so grateful to know that I have a Savior Jesus Christ who can help me in my deepest suffering, when I feel utterly hopeless. I don't always turn to Him because of my own silly weaknesses and pride, but I know that I can and I know that He loves me. He always loves me, even when I don't feel worthy to be loved. I know this in my heart by the power of the Holy Ghost. I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior!

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I feel a responsibility to be involved in bettering myself, my family and my community. At church I teach and help oversee uplifting and meaningful events and activities for teenage girls. As a youth leader I participate in a program of personal progress. This encourages goal setting and actively pursuing worthwhile and faith building projects and experiences as we strive to increase our knowledge and understanding of our worth and divine roles as daughters of God. This cultivates my desire and ability to serve others, make good choices and persevere when times are tough. It also promotes virtues such as honesty, modesty, chastity and keeping our thoughts and bodies clean. I take part in choirs and other musical ensembles and opportunities that arise. I strive to provide opportunities for others to develop and utilize their musical talents because I can feel love and peace through heartfelt music. I am trying to be more involved with my community by attending playgroups with mothers my age and visiting with my neighbours. I want to build sincere friendships with people around me as I personally believe that we all have something to offer and learn from. I like to have friends around me at all times.
