Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a wife, daughter, sister, best friend & aunt. I'm a student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to paint pottery and unfinished wood and am an avid crafter! I watch movies more than T.V., I enjoy musicals & romantic comedies. I am in my fourth year of college studying to be a Behavioral Therapist for children with autism and mental retardation. I've been married to my best friend, for nearly a year and look forward to the future with optimism!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because no matter how stressed and crazy my life gets, remembering the covenants that I have made with the Lord calms me and helps me to remember what a blessing this life is-no matter how hectic. I have prayed fervently to Lord in search of answers and now know that the Book of Mormon is not only true but it compliments the Bible. I do not believe that God would remove all aid to His children from the Earth and leave us to wander on our own and only hope that we could find our way back to Him. I know that the Lord, through Joseph Smith, restored His true church to the Earth. Along with the church came a Prophet, Apostles and Temples. What a marvelous blessing the Temples are, truly houses of the Lord where one can go and communicate with the Lord. Human kind has been so blessed by the sacrifice that was made by Jesus Christ, our Savior.

How I live my faith

I teach one of the classes of four-year olds in my church and love every second of it. I work at a lower income daycare/preschool where I do my best to make sure the children there feel safe and loved because they may not receive the same treatment at home.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Absolutely. We regard the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. We believe that the Bible and Book of Mormon compliment each other in their stories and teachings of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

While it is not required for men and women to serve missions it is expected. The idea is that the Lord has given you this life so to give either 1 1/2 or 2 years to serve Him should not be looked at as a burden. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

For church we believe that, as a sign of respect to Heavenly Father, we should dress in nice, clean apparel. The women wear dresses or skirts that reach their knees and shirts or jackets that cover their shoulders and the men wear white shirts and suits or dress slacks. We celebrate all major Christian holidays as do other religions: Easter, Christmas and other "fun" holidays such as New Year's Eve or St. Patrick's Day in addition to many others. Show more Show less
