Hi I'm Allen

I grew up and Maryland, I play piano and cello and love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am 19, from virginia and I love the east coast. I play the cello and enjoy listening to a lot of different types of music. I like to stay active with such activities like skateboarding, soccer, basketball and running. I am a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the service group the Order of the Arrow in the Boy Scouts. I have moved around the U.S. but My favorite place has been the East where I have lived in Maryland and Virginia. In 2009 I tore my ACL and meniscus skateboarding and had to have surgery on my knee, but through the support of my family I have made a full recovery and I still skateboard. I also speak Portuguese. Living the gospel has helped me to do all these activities and has given a strong belief in the need to always be active and to help others whenever possible.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members of the church and I started going at a young age. It wasnt until my teenage years that I started to understand more of the church the gospel of Jesus Christ and the importance of it in my life and in my family. I have been blessed with a peace and happiness in my life because of the Restored Gospel, it has helped me to gain a greater understanding and love for my Heavenly Father and of my purpose in life. I have prayed to my Father in Heaven about the message of the restored gospel and I know it is true. I know where I came from, why I am here and where I am going, and I know of Gods love for me and of the Saviours love for me. Being a Mormon gives me the opportunity to help others and to share the love that God has for them.

How I live my faith

Right now I am serving a full-time mission for the church. I will eventualy be serving in Brazil speaking the Portuguese language, but right now I am serving in Alabama until I am able to get my visa to travel to Brazil. This mission has been a great opportunity to feel the lords love for all his children and serve them. I am active in the Boy Scouts of America and in 2010 I had the great opportunity to serve as a volunteer at Camp Shenandoah in Virginia as a councilor working with the younger scouts. I try to be an example of Christ in everything I do by living the gospel and helping others. Family is very important to me and I look to the example that my father and mother have set for me in their love for each other, their parents, siblings, and children. While life is sometimes challenging, living the way that Christ would have me live is a blessing that the world cannot bring.

What is the First Vision?

The first vision refers to the event when a young boy named Joseph Smith went into the woods of upstate New York and Prayed to know which church was true. In his own words "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me I saw two personages whose brightness and glory defy all description standing above me in the air. One of them spoke unto me calling me by name and said, pointing to the other, this is my beloved Son, hear Him!" These two beings were God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. This event startd a chain of modern revelation that has blessed the world and restored the authority of God to the earth.  Show more Show less
