Hi I'm Andy

I ride horses, I have a passion for movies, I love seeing the art that God puts in Nature, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

My name is Andy, I graduated from high school in '09 and am now serving the Lord in Saint Louis Missouri on a two year mission, preaching the good word. I find the simple things of life to be the most enjoyable such as frequent horseback rides and hearing the laughter of my young nieces. I'm the youngest of six with four sisters and one brother. When I grow up I'm going to be working in film production as a Director and Producer. I hope to give modern media some clean and wholesome entertainment in my future. With that being said my passion is in movies, art and religion.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by good parents who taught me a lot on what is right and what is wrong. They are both members of the LDS (Mormon) church and I was baptized when I was young. I remember being so excited about my baptism, which is done by going all the way into the water and then being brought back out, giving you a fresh and clean start on life. I really felt at peace with it. As time went on and my faith was shaken at many times I finally broke down on my knees in prayer, crying out for help. I wasn't too sure if there even was a God anymore. But now I know... Through study, prayer and living my life the way I know I should I have come to understand more of the love that God has for each of us. After many spiritual experiences I have come to the conclusion of what I feel is right.

How I live my faith

I've always stood out in the crowd when people found out that I was Mormon and yet it never bothered me. I love sharing with people what I believe and providing service to those who are in need. We always try to do our best to look out for each other in our congregations, even if it means my dad having to drag me out of bed on Saturday mornings to go help someone move into their new home. When I was 18 I was asked to teach Sunday School for the 13 year-olds and I found that I really enjoyed that. The most important thing that I learned from my parents and my youth leaders is "serve, serve, serve!"

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Without the grace of God we could not be saved. When Christ suffered for us He opened the gates of Heaven and called us to come. We are asked to except His offering and do our part by following His doctrine which is having faith, repenting of our sins, being baptized, receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, and enduring life's trials by learning from our mistakes. If it weren't for the grace and mercy of God then we would be lost even with those five steps. We cannot be saved with out grace. At the same time God expects us to do our part. Our actions become evidence of our faith. Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

All missionaries pay there own way. We save up as much as we can before we leave home and then there are monthly payments made to a large fund where it is distributed to the different areas and different missionaries around the world as needed. We all pay the same amount but some countries cost more to live in than others so the money is shifted around to help those missionaries. The missionaries themselves are not payed for their service. Neither are they required to go, but it is definitely the experience of a life time.   Show more Show less
