Hi I'm Rachel

I'm serving as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Ukraine Kyiv Mission, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised Mormon in Scottsdale, Arizona! I'm currently serving as a missionary in the Ukraine Kyiv Mission. I put my life on pause as a college student in Utah, studying microbiology and Spanish, in order to serve as a missionary for 18 months. I am slowly learning the Russian language, and I love everything about Ukrainian culture. Before my mission, I loved living near all of my best friends at school. I love to run, swim, play tennis, ride my bike everywhere, hike, eat peanut butter, play the violin, learn, and spend time with my family and my friends! I love to travel and serve others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am so lucky to have had the Gospel as a part of my life since I was born. At first, I tried to develop a testimony through the testimonies of others, but I never developed a habit of reading the Book of Mormon or the Bible and praying to find out what I truly believed. It wasn't until I came to college and met some great friends who had strong, unwavering testimonies that I realized that mine could be nourished and could grow into something so special and personal to me. I began feasting upon the words of the scriptures, praying sincerely, and listening to the words of the prophets in General Conference, and I became happier than I have ever been in my entire life. Now, I can hardly even imagine my life without the gospel in it! It brings me so much happiness and security, and answers every question I could possibly have about the purpose and direction of my life. I excitedly share my beliefs with others and express my happiness! I know that this church is true, and I know that I have a Heavenly Father that loves me and a Savior, Jesus Christ, who atoned for my sins. He created a path for us to return to our Heavenly Father one day. I know that through our good works and through the grace of our Father in Heaven, we can return to live with Him after our life on Earth, and we will live with our families for eternity. I know that our Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers, and that we can learn of the truthfulness of anything through prayer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be someone that people want to be around. I try to better myself each day. Some of my favorite parts of each day are my morning and evening prayers, when I can be at one with my thoughts and communicate with my Heavenly Father who I know loves me. I love to write in my journal each day and reflect on my day and think about how I can improve my thoughts and actions. I love attending my church meetings each Sunday. I am able to see many of my best friends every Sunday and grow spiritually together. I strive to make improvements each day and nourish my testimony and beliefs each day by reading the scriptures. In 2012, I spent a semester of school serving in Ibarra, Ecuador. I worked each day at a home for Catholic girls, ages 3-18, who have problems within their families. I have never experienced such a special type of love through the service I was able to do for these girls. I now know that the pure love of Christ really is charity, and that when we are serving others, we are serving the Lord. It was there that I made the decision to serve a mission. In February 2013, I received a call to serve in the Ukraine Kyiv Mission from June 2013-December 2014. I have been my happiest self while serving as a missionary. I have come to love others more than I ever thought I could!
