Hi I'm Paul

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Oregon. A 5th generation Mormon and grateful for their perseverance and faithfulness.

About Me

I'm a father of 5 and grandfather of 11. I have been married for more than 36 years. I grew up in Oregon and have lived across the US and even out of country on a couple of occasions. I graduated college with a Masters of Social Work and have been working in the field of mental health my whole life. I have provided foster care, adoption services and counseling for over 30 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the LDS Church as were many generations. My family on both sides originally joined the Church in England and came to this land in the mid 1800's. So my history is entwined with the Church. Oregon did not have many members of the Church as I grew up so I learned about other faiths and what other people believed. My own conversion started with my family but took its own path as I grew through my teen years. I had to find out for myself if what I was raised to believe was in fact true. Over time and much consideration I share the same testimony as my ancestors and that is why I am a Mormon today.

How I live my faith

My work and daily effort is part of my faith. Being a Mormon is more than joining a faith or religion. It is a part of how I look at the world and relate to current events and the people I encounter. It is how I consider what to say to my children as I pass on the things I have learned and was taught by my parents. I make mistakes and have had to ask for forgiveness throughout my life. My desire to be a better husband, father and citizen stems from the things I have learned by investigating the doctrine of this church. While I don't always live my faith well, it helps me to want to live my faith better.
