Hi I'm Paul

I grew up in the Southeast USA. I work as Software Product Manager and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father in a blended family of six children, one grandson and granddaughter. I am a software product manager in the mapping industry (GIS, GPS, remote sensing, photogrammetric) and enjoy my work. It is fast-paced and creative. With work I have been able to travel to Australia, Singapore, China, Japan, Bolivia, France, Belgium, Rwanda, South Africa, India, Canada and most US states. While the children were in school, my wife and I have spend my time at orchestra concerts; football; softball and basketball games; track meets; dance recitals; and scout camps. Now that the children are all out of high school, I have the opportunity to travel with my wife. Together we work on Family History and spoiling grandchildren. For me, I like follow the South Carolina Gamecocks, and work on my blog writing about issues in the mapping industry.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 24-years old I met two Mormon Sister Missionaries. These were the first people I knew were Mormons. Later I learned I knew a lot of Mormons, I just did not know they were Mormon. The Sister Missionaries taught me: 1. God is my Father, and I lived with Him before I was born. 2. Jesus is my Savior. 3. Prophets taught people long ago, and do so today. 4. We can return to God, with our families. 16 months after converting from a Protestant Christian to a Mormon Christian, I served a mission among SE Asian refugees. I have ties to these people more than 2o years later.

How I live my faith

I have been lucky enough to serve my fellow church members in many areas over the years. Currently, I am able to serve as a group leader of men in our ward. I am also a Home Teacher, visiting families and helping them follow the Savior and serve their fellow beings. Years ago, I worked with many groups of rambunctious boys. They own a really tender part in my heart. And you know, in our classes, they were never rambunctious when they needed to be reverent. Those boys have gone on to serve missions, go to college, have children, become college professors and serve in their communities and church. I am so very happy to watch them succeed, and proud of the men those boys have become.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

I studied the Bible from a young age. The Bible is the word of God, given to prophets and apostles through the Holy Ghost. The Bible is a powerful witness that God is our Heavenly Father, and that Jesus Christ is His Son and our Savior. My favorite scripture is found in the Bible, in John 14:15 Jesus teaches us, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." Show more Show less
