Hi I'm Matt

I grew up in New England. I like building Victorian furniture. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a self-employed woodworker. My biggest hobby is fishing. I am the father of 3 girls.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church in the 1960's. I was born into the church. Throughout my childhood we went through periods of inactivity in the church. After moving away from home, I was inactive through most of my 20's. When I was abut 28, I had some very special experiences with some dear friends who re-introduced me to the church. By following the example of my friends and family, I began to make changes in my life which allowed me to draw closer to my Savior. The more I was willing to commit myself to the Savior and his teachings, the more blessings I received in my life. I know the Savior lives and His gospel has been restored to the Earth. I know we have a living prophet on the Earth today who leads and guides this church through revelation from God, our Father in Heaven. I know that through the Savior's atonement, I can be forgiven of my sins and continue in progression toward eternal life. I know that through the authority of the Priesthood, my family is sealed together for time and all eternity. I know the Book of Mormon is true and is another testament of Jesus Christ. It was translated by Joseph Smith, who was an instrument in the Lord's hands in restoring the true and living gospel to the earth today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following th example my Savior set for me. I learn about his example by studying the scriptures daily, attending my weekly church meetings, and by listening to inspired church leaders. I strive to keep the promises I made with the Lord at my baptism, when receiving the priesthood, and when attending the temple. I am honest in my dealings with my brothers and sisters and obey the laws of the land. I strive to treat others with love and kindness as the Savior would. I treat my wife and children with love and respect and try to follow the commandments in all aspects of my life. I served for five years as the Bishop and in other leadership positions in the church. I am currently a worker at the Boston temple and am a member of teh High Council in our area, which allows me to serve members of the church in Rhode Island and Connecticut. I also serve as a home teacher to four families . I visit them in their homes monthly, share a gospel message with them, and ensure that their needs are met. I encourage these families to live gospel standards, show my love for them, and provide service to them when they are in need.
