Hi I'm Missy

I grew up in New York. I'm a wife, a mother of five, a jazz vocalist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In a nutshell, I'm a wife and busy mother of four girls and a boy. That in and of it self is like being a CEO of a major corporation! I call my "company" Babcock Family Enterprises. My husband and I have been married for seventeen years, and we are saving up to take a nice vacation for the big 20! I love to sing jazz! I gig with great jazz musicians, and I perform regularly as a soloist for concerts in my community. Our family also loves to perform in musicals together. Performing together has helped our family create wonderful memories that will last forever!

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ grounds me personally and helps bring peace to my family. The world's values are constantly changing, but the gospel of Jesus Christ always stays the same. In a media driven world, I want my husband and I, not a screen, to be the primary teachers in the home. Having solid, Christ centered values that don't change like the latest trends, helps bring peace to us as parents and peace to the souls of my children. We all feel confident in knowing who we are, why we are here on this earth, and where we are going.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday, our family attends church together. Believe me, it is no easy task getting five children ready for church by 9 a.m., but we are committed to going because we see the lasting benefits in our lives! After church, as we eat lunch together as a family, we see more smiles, and feel more love, joy, and peace at home! I teach a lesson once a month in the women's organization at church. I love teaching the lessons because it is a time where we, as women, share our deep insights, ideas, and experiences in life. As we learn together, I feel greater strength to conquer life's battles, and I realize I'm not alone. The "society of sisters" lifts my spirit, helps me share in the joys and sorrows of others, and I feel a deeper commitment to my Savior Jesus Christ. I love music, and there are plenty of music opportunities to be had at church. My children love the songs they learn at church every Sunday. I sing in the church choir, which meets every Sunday afternoon, and I also serve as the music chairman for all the Mormon congregations in the neighboring vicinity. I love learning from all the musically talented people that I work with! Most importantly, we try to live our faith at home! Every morning we have scripture study and prayer as a family. Doing this helps us all "put on the armor of God" every day. We also have family home evening every Monday night. Our family looks forward to this special time to learn gospel lessons, sing, play games, and have treats together. My husband calls it his favorite "church meeting".

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missy
If you are interested in learning more about the church or need the hard questions answered about life, then the missionaries are for you. My mom was a convert to the church, and the missionaries were genuine, personable people answering the real questions to life that my mom had after her mother died when my mom was eleven years old. She felt comfortable with the missionaries and felt the truth of their message. When the missionaries come to visit you, they will tailor their discussion with you to your needs, and will answer specific questions that you have. You will learn how to have the joy and peace that living the gospel of Jesus Christ can bring. The missionaries will also be a great help to you if you decide to read the Book of Mormon. They will give you an overview of the book and share passages with you that will help you in your own reading. I highly recommend the book! It changed my life! Most importantly, the missionaries will bring the spirit of Jesus Christ into your home. You will be able to feel this spirit if you open your heart to what they share with you. Show more Show less
