Hi I'm T.J.

I'm a brother, I'm a Persuasive Speaker, I play guitar and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm from Dallas, Texas. I love music. I've played guitar since I was 14, usually rock or blues. I spend most of my free time playing guitar, either by myself or with friends. Oh, and I love to sing. I don't know how good or bad I am, but I do it anyway. I like to read and write, and enjoy spending time with my friends and famliy.

Why I am a Mormon

When I think about the things that matter most to me, I think of my family, my future, and music. I love my family. I am who I am because of them. I look forward to the futre; there are so many things that I want to do and see. There is so much to learn. I love music. Not only does it make me happy, but it is a way to praise God. I am a Mormon, or member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because that faith helps me develop the love for my family that I need. It helps me look foreward to the future with hope, knowing that I have so much to look forward to. And, that faith helps me find the great things in life, like music, that draw me closer to my Savior. I am a Mormon because I beleive in Christ; that he is he Son of God and the Savior of the World. He is my personal savior. He is my friend. God is my Father in Heaven. I feel his love. He has humbled me and made me who I am. I am a Mormon because I beleive that Jesus Christ established a church when he was here on the earth. Through the Prophet Joseph Smith, that church was restored. I am a Mormon because I want to be who God wants me to be, and do what he wants me to do. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints helps me do that. I am a Mormon becuase because I choose to be. That choice, to follow Christ has brought me more joy than anything else in the world.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ taught us in the Bible that we should love our Father in Heaven, God, with all our hearts, with our souls and with our minds. To me that means that I need to understand who my Father in Heaven is. I should do things that would make him happy. It isn't always easy, but it is worth it. In the end, his opinion of us is the one that matters. So, I live my faith my talking with my Father in Heaven through prayer, and by trying to do what he wants me to do.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes. We know that Jesus Christ is the Redeemer and Savior of the world. Through his teachings and commandments, we can return to live with our Father in Heaven. Christ is the Head of this church. We worship him. We praise him. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes! The Bible contains the fulness of the Everlasting Gospel of Jesus Christ, just as does the Book of Mormon. The Bible and Book of Mormon go hand in hand. In many cases, they teach the same exact things, just in different ways. Both books are very important to our learning. Both contain the teachings of our Savior and his called servants, the prophets.   Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

God has a perfected body of flesh and bones. He made our bodies to be like his, only our bodies aren't perfect like his. Because he has given us our bodies, we should take care of them. We don't drink alcohol, coffee or tea for several reasons. One of those reasons is for health. But, the most important reason that we dont't drink those things is because God has commanded us not to through his living prophets. If we follow this commandment, He promises us "treasures of knowledge" and the strength "to run and not be weary and to walk and not faint." Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Alot of my freinds and other people that I talk to ask questions about what my daily life is like as a member of the church. Really, it's not all that different from anyone elses. I work, go to school, and spend time with my friends and family. We believe in being honest, and kind. We believe in helping others and doing what we can to help make our communities better places. Families are very important, so we do alot of things together as a family. We go to church on Sunday to worship our Father in Heaven, and to learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Of course, we don't drink alcohol, coffee or tea, we don't smoke, and we try to do things that are uplifting and good. Really, we're alot like alot of other people.  Show more Show less
