Hi I'm Bethany

I love to take pictures, explore the outdoors, meet new people, and spend time with my husband and two children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the beautiful state of Colorado. I met my husband in the seventh grade, where I stood about a foot taller than him. :) We were friends throughout high school, and then, several years later (wherein he had grown a few inches), my dreams came true and we were married! We have since lived in Utah, Texas, and Massachusetts - all places we adored - but we are happy to call Colorado home again. We have a little boy and a baby girl, both of whom are the joy of our lives. I like to take pictures as a hobby and profession, decorate our home, and explore the outdoors. I also love to keep records, whether it's by journaling, blogging, or albuming. I'm a big fan of Harry Potter and ice cream, and I love my Mormon faith.

Why I am a Mormon

Before I was born, my soon-to-be dad took a leap of faith when he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 19. He then married my faithful mom, and the rest is history. I will forever be thankful for his decision. I have always loved my faith, and as a young girl, I gained a testimony of its truthfulness for myself. I am a member of this Church because I know that Christ lives, I know that He died for me, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to serve Him. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has provided me with happiness, peace, and understanding. In times of trial, I know that I can pray to Him at any moment and He will hear and answer me. I love that my faith centers around the family. Knowing that I can be with my family forever means the world to me. I also know that The Bible and The Book of Mormon are true, and my testimony of Christ is strengthened every time I read them. I also love the feeling I get when I simply go to church. I am uplifted by the lessons, the people, and the spirit. I've learned that no matter where I go, the church is the same, and there will always be people waiting to serve you with open arms. It's awesome. I am an imperfect person, but I strive to follow Christ so I can return to Him again someday.

How I live my faith

I study the scriptures and strive to follow the teachings of Christ. I strive to be honest, kind, prayerful, and charitable. I work hard in my roles as a mother, wife, and friend; and I enjoy my responsibilities at church. I currently work with the Primary children ages 3 to 12. In our congregation there are over 150 children! In my day-to-day life I maintain high standards by being modest in what I eat, drink, wear, say, and do. It's not always easy, but it's worth it. I don't feel bound by my faith, I feel free.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

One of my favorite verses from the Articles of Faith - a set of beliefs that help to define our theology - is number eight: "We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God." The Bible is the word of God! I love the teachings of the Bible. I know that it is a testament of Jesus Christ. I believe it was was written by prophets and apostles, from God to His children. I believe that The Book of Mormon is also the word of God - as another testament of Jesus Christ - and that it goes hand in hand with the teachings of The Holy Bible. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

This question is so important to me since I have many close friends and family members who misunderstand my belief in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is my Savior. He is the Only Begotten Son of our Father in Heaven. He lived a perfect life on this earth and then died for everyone's sins so that, by His grace, we can return and live with Him again. Everything else I believe and know to be true is merely an appendage of my faith in Jesus Christ. I worship Him. I follow Him. I know that He lives. I know that He knows and loves every person individually. No words can express my gratitude and reverence and love for His life, example, and Atonement. I can only try to follow Him through my actions and choices, and continue to repent from my mortal mistakes. I know that I will meet Him again someday, and I hope that when I do, I will be able to live with Him, and my family, forever in His Kingdom. Show more Show less
