Hi I'm Andrew

I know how I can be happy. I love tennis, cooking, jazz, and economics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm graduating with a degree in Economics and have accepted a job as a management consultant. I love learning and having new experiences. I want to watch Wimbledon live, backpack in China, and go skydiving. I am happy with my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that God has a Plan of Happiness for me that can help me in my life each day. I learned this Plan in church and it has provided much-needed perspective to help me make key decisions. One instance in which God helped me make an important choice happened recently, as I was deciding between different job opportunities. I had thought and prayed about each offer, and discussed them with my friends and family. As I was driving down the highway after having visited one company, I received a clear, specific impression, "You have many great opportunities, and you will need to make your own decision, but you will be very happy working for this firm." This answer from God provided great comfort and helped me to make a decision. I have received great happiness from trying to understand and follow His plan for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping the Sabbath holy - avoiding work, physical recreation, or shopping on Sunday. This can be challenging at times. When I was an intern at an economic consulting firm in New York City, the team I was working on was trying to meet a deadline, and intended to work on Sunday. As an intern, I was worried that if I did not work on Sunday I might jeopardize my chances of obtaining a full-time offer, but decided to approach my supervisor and explain my situation and beliefs. Fortunately, he was understanding and respectful, and I was able to work longer hours on Saturday and take Sunday off. Each Sunday, I look forward to the opportunity to recharge, reorient myself, and prepare for the week ahead.
