Hi I'm Janessa

I'm finishing a MBA. I'm training for a half marathon. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm finishing a MBA in marketing and strategy. When I'm not in class, I'm training for my first half marathon. Cooking is my stress relief. I grew up next to the ocean and now I live in the middle of the mountains, and both places leave me in awe of the beauty of God's creations.

Why I am a Mormon

Life can be scary and uncertain - I take comfort in the context that the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings to me. Because of the gospel, I understand that I am a daughter of God. He knows me and loves me perfectly. He sees the best in me, in spite of my weaknesses. He wants me to overcome those and become perfect, and His Son, Jesus Christ, came to earth to make that possible. Christ is the perfect example of what I should become, and His atonement allows me to repent of my mistakes and gradually become better. The best part about the atonement is that it does more than forgive sins; it also heals broken hearts. It allows families to be sealed forever, so when a loved one dies I know that I will be with them again. I also know that when I face big decisions, I can pray for guidance in how to choose wisely. God can see the big picture of my life, while I only see a small part, and He can lead me to a brighter future than I could find on my own. To me, the gospel is the key to hope and confidence, and I would be lost without it.

How I live my faith

I go to church on Sunday and a weekly scripture study class called institute during the week. I also visit two women in my ward every few weeks just to see if there's anything I can do to help them. It's a great way to make new friends and just watch out for each other.
