Hi I'm Delbert

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah but now live in Connecticut. I am married and have three grown children and one grandson. I have my own construction company doing primarily renovations and reconstruction. I have been doing that for twenty plus years now. I love to play golf and being with my family, especially our grandson. We are somewhat close to New York and love to go there to take in Broadway show and have dinner.

Why I am a Mormon

As I mentioned. I grew up in Utah and have been a member all of my life. I left home to go in the Navy at seventeen and soon discovered that I really didn't have a testimony of the church or the gospel. I fell away from the church for a while and really did not get active again until I became engaged and my Sweetheart wanted to get married in the Temple for time and all eternity. I loved her very much and knew that I had to get my act together and get back to church and living the gospel as I knew it. As I became more active and doing the things which would get me to the temple, I just knew that I had to keep the teachings in my life and follow the Savior. I am truly grateful and know that Jesus is the Christ, that he died so that we may live and be able to repent of our sins, that we have a Heavenly Father who loves each of us and wants us to be happy and return to him, that Joseph Smith restored the Gospel and established Christ's church here upon the Earth in these the last days. You might ask, well how do I know this? Well I liken it to knowing that when I turn the light on , the electric power will be there to light the bulb or when I turn the faucet on, the water will come out. But most of all the power of the Holy Ghost has bore witness to me that this gospel and church are True.

How I live my faith

The best way I know how to live my faith is by example. By helping my neighbor when he needs help, stopping to help the motorist who might be broke down along the highway. Being kind to my wife and our children and being there for them in time of need. I visit three family's each month that I have been assigned to look after and let them know that they can call on me at any time. I also do not drink alcoholic beverages, do not smoke, avoid using vulgar language or telling off color stories or jokes. Read good books that are edifying, uplifting and are of good report. I try not to work or patronize stores on Sunday and again, try to be a good example to people that are around me.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Usually when someone finds out that I am "Mormon", I get the polygamy question: "How many wives do you have?" I chuckle and say just one. That's all I could afford right now. I then try to explain that the Church did away with polygamy over one hundred years ago and it is not practiced today in the "Mormon" Church.  Show more Show less
