Hi I'm Steven Mayberry

I am an Oreo eater, a Biology major, a firefighter, a loyal friend and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern Arizona in a small town close to the US/Mexican border and the dessert is my favorite place to be. I am a biology major and I am working towards a career in the in Healthcare field. I work during the summers for the BLM as a wildland firefighter and I LOVE my job. I love being outdoors and will do everything that I can to spend as much time outside as possible. I am an EMT and I enjoy being able to help people and be there for them in their time of need. I am always up for any adventure as long as I have the right people with me. My favorite job is being the favorite uncle of my many nieces and nephews. My family and friends are the most important people in my life and I will always be there for them no matter what.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and let me tell you why. I have wonderful parents that helped raise my family in a home filled with love and a strong faith in Jesus Christ. All of my family members are members of the church and all are great examples of people that live their faith. I was taught at a young age to build my own relationship with God and that I needed to pray, read the scriptures, and attend church to strengthen that relationship. My faith is centered on Jesus Christ and I know that He lives and that He is the only way that we can find true and lasting happiness in this life and in the life to come. I know that the power of prayer is very real and that God hears and answers prayers. I have read and pondered the Book of Mormon and have prayed and have received an answer and I know that it is true and that it is of God. I have come to know that Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of God because I have seen the good and truth that not only comes from the Book of Mormon but also for the church today and a living Prophet. Everything in the church brings me closer to Jesus Christ and enriches my life and strengthens my family. Everyone can find this out for themselves through taking the time to study and learn with an open mind and an open heart.

How I live my faith

I love to look back and see how my faith has played such a vital role in sculpting me into the person I am today. It is also the path that is going to help me become who I want to be in the future. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints truly is a way of life. As a family growing up we worked together, played together, traveled together and as a matter of fact we did everything together. We make it a priority to spend at least one night a week together where we only focus on spending time together as a family. Even as all of my siblings grew up and left home we would still take the time to get together even if it was just my parents and I. I am currently away from my family serving as a missionary for the church in the Portland area. I spend my time helping and serving everyone I can. I also teach people who are willing to learn about the church and are searching for answers and want to know if the message we share is true. I do my best to live a life built on the principles of love for others, hard work, service, kindness and charity. The things I know to be true inspire me to act upon my belief and truly live my faith.
