Hi I'm Mikah!!

I'm in love with life. I'm a Texan. I'm an artist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Oh hey! I'm Mikah. Like I said, I'm in love with life. I enjoy the small things in life, and try not to take it too seriously. I'd like to say I'm carefree for a lot of things but I'm still working on it :). I'm awfully clumsly, very shy, and unorganized, but I am also soo blessed, talented, and loved. I am learning every day to love and appreciate my faults. I try everyday to find new weaknesses and with the Lord's help, create new strengths. Life is too short to complain about it! I LOVE music and art. I am very rarely not around music or singing. My major in college in graphic design. I have learned that two of my favorite things are paper and conte crayon. The best moments I have are when I am either completing a masterpiece, or performing in my car to my favorite songs :). Some other things I love are hiking, not wasting food, canoeing, trying new things that are dangerous, animals, being around my family and friends, laughter, not littering, and positive energy and of course, the Book of Mormon, the Holy Ghost, my testimony, and my Heavenly Father. A typical week for me includes work, going to church activities, hanging with family and friends, cleaning, practicing guitar, and snuggling my dog and best friend, Jack.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member for almost all my life. I've been a member, but not always a follower. For about 8 years, I got caught up in a different lifestyle that I knew was not the right one and for 8 years, I never knew true happiness...until I felt the power of the Atonement in my life. I realized that was not the way Heavenly Father wanted me to live, and I felt it. After a long process of doing what was right, praying, and a whole lot of fasting, I received forgiveness. As I read Alma chapter 36 in the Book of Mormon, I knew I had been forgiven. Because of the Atonement, my testimony was strengthened, and I saw the gospel for what it was. My true happiness!! My being spiritually reborn has opened my eyes to why I am a Mormon. I am Mormon because it is true. I know Jesus is the Christ and he has atoned for our sins. I thought after a such long time, I was lost to ever finding my way again but because of this gospel and the love Heavenly Father has for me, I was able to feel that joy Alma describes. I am Mormon because I believe in my Heavenly Father above, and in His son, my savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Living the Mormon faith is following Christ's example which is a very hard path to follow. I live it by trying to reach out, being a good friend, trying to be kind to others, helping, smiling, cheering up someone, and just showing love for someone in need. In the church, I am a second counselor in the Relief Society and try to support our President and love the girls in our Relief Society. I am soo very very very far from perfect but we all try to do what we can, right? I still have a lot of work to do, but the key word is "trying." I try very hard to be a good example to those with whom I associate with. By doing good I can share my testimony with others by living what I believe. That's how I try to live my faith :).

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Trust. Letting go of pride. A picture that comes to mind is walking a tightrope with eyes closed. Faith is believing in something that cannot be seen. Sometimes we need to shut out what is distracting us and focus on the Savior, putting one foot in front of the other, believing with a blind faith that our foot will find its rope. He is the guide that helps place our foot one in front of the other. We need to trust him, we need to relax and not worry. Shut out those stresses and remember that faith is sufficient for all men. Remember to be humble, let go of pride and trust in him. Show more Show less
