Hi I'm Tyler

I'm a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day. I love the work that I do and I especially love The Book of Mormon!

About Me

Some things about me that you should know is that I love film and movies. My dream is to be able to do something proactive and good with wholesome media. I want to make a difference in the world with it. Also I love to be active. I love playing basketball, ultimate frisbee, football, volleyball and ping pong. I Don't like to idle away my time. But when i do it is either spent watching movies or reading a good mystery book. In fact my favorite books are the celebrated cases of Sherlock Holmes and I can't seem to get enough of them. I love a good mystery. But lately all of my time has been spent speaking to people here in Boston, Massachusetts about another book that I have come to love and Cherish. That book is called the Book of Mormon. And if you haven't guessed it already, yes I am a missionary. I have currently been out for almost six months and am loving every minute of it!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? That is a great question. I am a Mormon because of a culmination of things. I guess you could say that being born into the church might have something to do with it, or maybe because my parents took me to church every week, or maybe because about eighty percent of my high school was Mormon, but that isn't the main reason. The main reason is because I've read the Book of Mormon. It is as simple as that. I've thought back time and time again about how I received my testimony of the church and it has stemmed from me reading this book. As I've read it, the holy ghost has touched my heart and enlightened my mine to the point that I know it to be the word of God.

How I live my faith

As of right now the way that I live my faith is by being a missionary. My faith in Jesus Christ and the church has propelled me to want to invite people to learn about what I know to be true. I live it by serving people and I can honestly say that I have come to enjoy serving people and having charity towards my fellow man. In fact I've never smiled more in my life; I've never been happier and it is because of my faith and because I show it by my works. I know that faith without works is dead and works without faith yield no blessings.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

To answer this question I'll pose another question; "did Jesus get paid for the services that he rendered?" The answer is no! Money should not be our reason for working in the name of God. The old testament teaches us this in 2kings 5:15-27. When offered a monetary reward for healing Naaman, the prophet Elisha refuses the offer and leaves. however his servant Gehazi returns and takes the reward and in return is cursed with Naaman's leprosy. Or how about when the Lord teaches in matthew 6:25 "... take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink;nor yet for your body, what yes shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than remnant?" And Lastly the Lord makes his answer final when he says in matthew 6: 19- 20 "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." From this we can clearly conclude that serving The Lord and his children should not merit a monetary reward. When money becomes the reason why we serve God and do his work, then our love for God becomes warped and we love Mammon more than God. Show more Show less
