Hi I'm Margene
I'm a Mormon.
I am a mom of 4 kiddos and married to my high school sweet heart for 24 years. Two of my kids have Autism and are older teenagers. That adds a fun challenge to our lives at times. I like to scrapbook and take pictures and I'm a blogger as well. After being obese for 25 years, I lost 145 lbs. So now I am really into eating good, nutritious foods and living a more active lifestyle. It's a new beginning! I ran my first 5K in 2011 and my first 1/2 marathon in 2012. I am also finding a lost love of playing basketball again. In losing weight, I've have also undergone a spiritual journey of letting go of a lot of the negative in my life and the self-loathing I was trapped in. My testimony of the Savior is what helped me achieve this and helps me continue to find the joy in life and to help others do the same. I am very motivated to help other women who also have been trapped in that pit of self-loathing and who are struggle with their weight. It has changed my life to escape that prison of obesity and really strengthened my relationship with the Lord as well as my family.
The joy, hope and peace I feel from knowing who I am and where I am going cannot be replaced by anything else. I was raised in a Mormon family with parents who taught me their Faith. Yet, I wanted to know for myself what was true. So I read the Book of Mormon for myself and prayed about it and I did receive my own answer to that prayer that it is a true record. I have felt the Holy Ghost in my own life testify of gospel truths to me and also give me a "stupor of thought" to things that were not true. I am a Mormon because I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ here on the Earth right now. I love that we have a living prophet today that guides us and warns us just as in days of old. And we need that more today than ever. I love the blessings that come from serving the Lord in His Church, and the from being sealed in His Holy Temple to my husband where we are sealed not just for time but for all eternity. I love that I can be with my Family not just in this life, but in the life to come.
I live my faith by trying to put my Trust in the Lord, especially when the trials come. I try to be open to the Spirit and serve others how God would want me to. I find strength in daily scripture study, especially reading the Book of Mormon. I love the word of Christ in that book and of the prophets who testify of Him. I also have a love of our Church Hymns. Singing and listening to them really bring me a Spirit of peace and confirm gospel truths to me.
