Hi I'm Lisa

I am a runner, a return missionary, a lover of travel and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi I am Lisa, a college student, daughter, sister, friend and return missionary. I love sports, serving others, babysitting young kids and living every day as happily as I possibly can.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been fortunate enough to have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my entire life. I have fond memories of attending primary at an early age and learning the basic principles of the Gospel. I have fun memories of Family Home Evening with my family, singing hymns and reading scriptures together. When I was 8 years old I decided that I wanted to be baptized. I have always loved the church because of the associations I have made there. My closest friends have always been those I have met at church. Friends along with countless leaders are examples to me of the kind of person and member of the church that I desire to become. When I was 12 years old, I wanted and needed to find out for myself if the church was true. After lots of prayer and reading scriptures I got a calm peaceful feeling, and it was after many of those feelings that I knew it was right. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has made me so happy. When things get hard and confusing the Gospel has always pointed me in the right direction. The Gospel for me is not just going to church on Sunday but a lifestyle. Everything I do is because of my membership in the Church. I am so thankful for my testimony. I know Jesus is the Christ and the Savior of the world. I know Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Chirst, I know the book of Mormon is true and I know that President Monson is the true prophet. I am thankful for this knowledge and for the happiness and direction it gives me in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in the church and trying my best to do what the Lord asks of me. I recently have been asked to help with the youth in my ward, particularly the young women ages 12-18. Every couple of weeks I will teach them a lesson on Sundays. It was not too long ago that I was their age and in that same stage in life. I know that those teenage years are some of the most formidable, and I am looking forward to teaching them.By attending church each week, and other church meetings, participating and fulfilling my calling in the young women's program, I know I am doing what has been asked of me, doing Christ's work strengthens my faith.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Lisa
Simply by asking God. If you have a true desire to know if the Church is true and have faith that God will give you an answer, he will. Go to church, read the Book of Mormon, read the words of the prophets and talk with other members of the church. Then sincerely pray and ask if the things you have been reading and learning are true and I know that you will get an answer. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Lisa
Yes. After Christ died and all of his Apostles died, the true church of Christ was no longer on the earth. This period of time we call The Apostasy. Then in 1820 Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to a young boy named Joseph Smith and told him that there was no true church on the earth at that time. Then in a later visit to Joseph they told him that he was going to be the person to restore Christ's church. On April 6, 1830 the Church was organized, and Joseph Smith was the first prophet. A person is a prophet in our church until they die. In 1844 Joseph Smith died and Brigham Young was appointed to be the next prophet. And until that time there has been a prophet on the earth. Today the Prophet is Thomas S. Monson. I know that he is the one true and living prophet, I know that Heavenly Father speaks to him and that he is the Lords mouthpiece for us now. I know that everything President Monson says comes from God. And if we do what he says our lives will be blessed and we will be better people and better members of the Church. Every time I listen to the prophets voice I am reminded of the truthfulness of his words. Show more Show less
