Hi I'm Lance

My wife comes first. My children are jealous but highly loved. I hunt elk. My kids are champions, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My father was the first ever baptized member of his family that I know of. His heritage extends back to the Quakers. My mother comes from a long line of Latter-Day Saints...some of whom traveled across the plains to join the Saints in their journey westward. I'm a husband of 20 years with 5 kids. I'm an engineer/architect and I design data storage systems. I sing, I act, and have been in many local plays over the years. I'm also a shooting and hunting enthusiast. Four out of five kids swim and play water polo. I have two sons who are on a water polo team and have been state champions for 9 years in a row. My oldest is currently the fastest high school swimmer in the state. I love the outdoors and being in the woods and mountains.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormom because of many amazing experiences as a teenager which lead me to a sure knowledge of the reality of God the Father and His son, Jesus Christ. I know they are real and I am sure they understand who I am.

How I live my faith

We're quite a diverse family. We have people who are members of the Church and those who no longer participate in anything religious. My nephew has served time in prison....twice. And when he got out of prison we welcomed him back to Sunday dinner with open arms. He was shocked. We've simply learned that we all have trials and difficulties in life and that we all need love. We may not approve of someone's behavior, but we still love them back into the family, even when things get rough. I try to live the Savior's example of treating others with the divine potential we all have. My favorite teaching of Jesus is the story of the Good Samaritan. Matthew 25:40 touched my life as a teenager when I really read it for the first time. "...Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." I'll never judge a beggar or refuse his petition. It is not my place to judge. If they are in need and I am able to give, I will always give. This is how I live my religion.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The simple answer might be Joseph Smith. But honestly, that doesn't address the whole question. We believe that the original organization of Apostles which Christ set up on the earth went through a great apostasy. Peter and all of the first Apostles were killed. When that happened, God's authority to act in His name (the priesthood) was taken from the earth. We entered the Dark Ages, a time of spiritual darkness, which lasted about 1,400 years. In 1820, in a time of great spiritual awakening, a young boy had the burning question of which church on the earth was correct and which one he should join. He knelt in prayer in a grove of trees and was visited by God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. They told him to join none of the churches but that through Joseph they would re-establish God's church on the earth once again. So sure, the Church was founded by Joseph Smith...under the direction of Heaven. Show more Show less
