Hi I'm Mary

I am a college graduate. I am a football fanatic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 24 years old and have a large, supportive family who I love! I grew up a tomboy and love playing and watching sports especially BYU Football. I love music and I love to sing karaoke despite my lack of talent. In 2009, I graduated with my Bachelors in Social Work and began working as an enrollment counselor at a school. Before I die, I want to travel the world, go skydiving...and pet a tiger.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were converted to the LDS church when they were younger so, luckily, I was raised in the church. However, that is not why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because a 14 year old boy in the 1800's was seeking to know what church to attend and received a remarkable answer. As unusual or unbelievable as it may sound, I know it is true without a doubt in my mind. In the Bible the Lord said that we should, "beware of false prophets" and that we would know them by their fruits. The Book of Mormon is that tangible evidence that the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ took place. It is truly by studying and praying about the Book of Mormon (the fruit the Lord promised) and by seeing how the gospel itself has blessed my life and the lives of my family that I was able to find out whether or not this church was everything it claimed to be. It truly is not too good to be true!

How I live my faith

I just returned as a missionary for the LDS church. I absolutely loved going out each and every day and sharing with people the one thing that has changed my life, blessed my family, and given me strength to endure everything that life brings my way. Now, I am back home sharing what I love with those who I love.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

We perform baptisms for the dead because we believe in following the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In 1 Peter we read about Christ's ministry in the Spirit World after His crucifixion. We read how He preached the gospel to the spirits in prison...that they "might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit." (1Peter 3:18-19 and 1 Peter 4:6) We believe this work is still takes place today. Because God is a fair and just God, good people who have not had the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ’s gospel will have the opportunity before Judgment Day. However, we learn, “except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God,” (Matthew 3:5), therefore, we believe that their work can be done vicariously through proxy to enable them to accept or deny this opportunity. Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

We see different examples throughout Biblical times of God's Health Code for His children. This Health Code enables us to have healthier bodies and minds. We, as members of the Church abstain from things like coffee, tea, alcohol, drugs, and tobacco and asked to eat things with proper nutritional value because we understand that He has given us modern day guidelines to better our lives. And with our obedience, we are blessed. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Jesus Christ the Savior and Redeemer of the world. He was the only begotten of our Heavenly Father. He came to earth to pay the price He didn't owe, to pay the price that I could never pay! He lives and it is only through Him and His grace that eternity is possible! Show more Show less
