Hi I'm Scott

My name is Scott, I'm Canadian. I love sports, and I love music, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm happy, I love sports, music, friends, family. I like to have fun, be active and hang out with friends and talking to people. My favorite thing to do is learn new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, or member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. The purpose of the Book of Mormon is to testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ. As I have read from its pages, and applied its teaching into my own life I have felt joy and happiness in my life. Its teachings help me learn how to become more like Jesus Christ and ultimately love everyone. I have felt no greater joy than living in this manner and I know it to be true.

How I live my faith

If there is one thing that makes me happy in life it is helping other people grow. There is nothing greater than watching people make changes and discover happiness in their lives. That is exactly how I live my faith. As a missionary helping people make those changes, I wanted to help everyone have the happiness that comes from reading the scriptures and trying to become more like our Savior Jesus Christ. As a missionary I had the opportunity to talk to complete strangers, and tell share a message about Jesus Christ and how I came to know the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. That message is he loves, and has restored the exact same organization--church--that he did when he was here on the earth. We have living day apostles and prophets who teach and testify of Him. I do my best to live a happy life and try to help others see that I have something different. That difference is the knowledge of a restoration of His teachings. Although we all make mistakes, His message enables us to be cleansed from the feelings we have as we make mistakes and be completely guiltless before God. I live my faith by sharing that happiness with others.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Scott
Of course a restoration was needed. A general falling away from the truth occurred after the death of Christ’s Apostles. This is called the Apostasy. Jesus Christ organized his gospel while He was here on the earth. He gave his authority to his apostles to help support him and administer in the ordinances of the gospel such as baptism. They worked under his direction. Eventually Jesus Christ was crucified and thereby could no longer remain here on the earth to continue to do what he did. The apostles still had the authority that was given them by Him to continue on with his work. Under his direction, through revelation they were able to continue to do many miracles because of the authority that they had received from Him. Eventually the apostles were killed as well because those who opposed Christ continued to apose those who taught the same things. Eventually over time all of the apostles and even other righteous Church members were killed. Because of such, the Church lacked those who had been called by authority and therefore could not continue to function the way Christ had originally set. Although many good people continued to do there best to follow the example of Christ and the way he had set, without proper priesthood authority, it could not be done the way Christ originally had established even though they had the words of the prophets. Many apostles prophesied of this before their deaths. One example is Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians (2 Thessalonians 2:1-3). Show more Show less
