Hi I'm Scott
I'm happy, I love sports, music, friends, family. I like to have fun, be active and hang out with friends and talking to people. My favorite thing to do is learn new things.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon, or member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. The purpose of the Book of Mormon is to testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ. As I have read from its pages, and applied its teaching into my own life I have felt joy and happiness in my life. Its teachings help me learn how to become more like Jesus Christ and ultimately love everyone. I have felt no greater joy than living in this manner and I know it to be true.
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
Because the Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ we can learn more about Him. In the Book of Mormon in 2 Nephi 25-26 it clearly states just that,. "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a dremission of their sins." As I read more about my Savior and his teachings found in the Book of Mormon I understand more about what I need to do to follow his example. By following his example I am happier and closer to Him.
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
For me the first thing that helped me to know my prayers were answered was knowing that God was really there and was listening. I had always prayed but after talking to a friend about prayer and his experience with praying, I thought I dont know if I have ever really felt that God was actually listening to me. One night I decided to ask while I was praying if Heavenly Father was really there or not. If my friend could know then why couldn't I? Doesn't Heavenly Father love all of us the same? As I began to pray I stopped in the middle of my prayer and just asked, "Heavenly Father are you there? Are you listening to me?" At first I didn't really feel anything or get an answer and so I asked again. Again I felt nothing. With all the sincerity in me I asked for the third time. If I was to recieve answers to my prayers I needed to know if God was really there and listening to me. As I asked for the third time, I felt feelings of peace come over me, and inside I felt that he was there and really did care about me. He was listening. He does care. Since then I have tried to be more sincere about my prayers because I know he answers us. Sometimes its hard to have that sincerity, and often we dont get our answer right when we want it, but when we sincerely ask we can know answers to questions, recieve comfort when we are experiencing sorrow, and most important repent and ask for forgiveness and the strength to do better and change. I know now that prayer is real and that we really do have a conversation with our Heavenly Father.
How I live my faith
If there is one thing that makes me happy in life it is helping other people grow. There is nothing greater than watching people make changes and discover happiness in their lives. That is exactly how I live my faith. As a missionary helping people make those changes, I wanted to help everyone have the happiness that comes from reading the scriptures and trying to become more like our Savior Jesus Christ. As a missionary I had the opportunity to talk to complete strangers, and tell share a message about Jesus Christ and how I came to know the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. That message is he loves, and has restored the exact same organization--church--that he did when he was here on the earth. We have living day apostles and prophets who teach and testify of Him. I do my best to live a happy life and try to help others see that I have something different. That difference is the knowledge of a restoration of His teachings. Although we all make mistakes, His message enables us to be cleansed from the feelings we have as we make mistakes and be completely guiltless before God. I live my faith by sharing that happiness with others.
