Hi I'm Caitlin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am originally from Idaho, but we have lived in New Mexico for nearly four years--long enough to fall in love with green chile, Balloon Fiesta, and southwestern sunsets. I work as a technical writer. I graduated from BYU before moving to Albuquerque to get my master's degree from UNM. I am also learning how to be a wife; my wonderful husband and I were married in the Boise, Idaho temple in 2009. I love languages, books, music, and ice cream. I enjoy reading, running, traveling, trying new things, and taking rides with my husband on his motorcycle.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this gospel is why I am happy. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me direction, peace, and joy in my life. The Holy Ghost has testified to my heart that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has Christ's gospel in its fulness. It is because of this testimony, and the daily testimonies I receive of God's love, that I choose to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by daily following Christ's example. I try to remember the gospel is not what I do as much as what I am, and I try to be just what Christ would be. I try to be charitable, patient, and loving. I constantly try to understand God's plan for me. I do my best to keep God's commandments. I spend time with my family or participating in positive activities. In our ward, I enjoy being a visiting teacher (friendshipping within the women's organization of Relief Society) and working with the young women (12- to 18-year-old girls).

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Mormons believe that this life we know here on Earth is neither the beginning nor the ending. After we die, we will continue living. If we have been faithful to the gospel of Christ, we will live with God, Jesus Christ, and our families forever. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith, Jr., is considered to be the founder of our Church, but we think of him as a restorer. He restored the same church what we now call the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that Christ founded in the New Testament. Joseph Smith was simply a man, but as God's servant, we consider him a great prophet. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Many ancient prophets contributed to what we consider the Book of Mormon. Just like the prophets in the Bible, Book of Mormon prophets who were on the ancient American continent wrote counsel and prophesies, which were then compiled into a larger book of scripture. The compilation was done by one of these prophets named Mormon, which is where the name of this larger book of scripture comes from. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon from its ancient language into English, but he is not its author. Show more Show less
