Hi I'm David

I live in Hawaii. I'm preparing for dental school and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a senior in college and have plans to attend Dental School. I was just recently married and am enjoying married life on the North Shore of Oahu. I love to surf, hike, swim, free dive, and anything else that involves the outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because of the life that it has allowed me to live. I may not always be doing great financially or socially, but I've noticed that even in rough times my faith has allowed me to have peace and happiness. I didn't really have much of a testimony until I was 18 years old. I had been raised LDS by two convert parents. I was blessed that they tried diligently to help us make good decisions and know who God really was. Religion didn't really seem to matter much however, until I really needed help in my life. I was in my last year of high school and hanging out with the wrong friends. I remember feeling depressed and unhappy. I didn't really care for how my life had been and where it was going, so I sought help. I went to my father and asked for his council. He told me to start really earnestly reading the Book of Mormon and praying for forgiveness. I strived diligently to follow what he said. I left my old friends, and began putting effort into knowing if everything I had been taught all my life was true. After just a short time, I started feeling really happy! Nothing had really changed as far as my schooling or my work, but I felt a great sense of peace and joy everyday. I began to love the Book of Mormon and looked forward to reading it daily. One night, as I layer in bed, I thought about Joseph Smith and everything that he had done to restore the Church. As I thought these things I felt a peaceful feeling come over me, so comforting that it is hard to describe and I soon realized that I was being told my the Holy Ghost that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. Even now this day I know this is God's church restored to the earth. The Book of Mormon is the Word of God. Knowing these things has made all the difference to me and I invite everyone to try it for themselves.

How I live my faith

I just recently was placed into a new ward family with my wife. It has been a good experience getting to know new families and seeing the testimony of others who I don't normally associate with. I enjoy seeing classmates and professors at church and especially at church activities. It makes me feel more connected, almost like we're family.
