Hi I'm Brianna.

I'm a middle school science teacher at heart, passionate about photography, and a devoted Mom and wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a woman with a long to-do list. Things I've conquered so far include a study abroad stint to Austria, teaching 7th and 8th grade science for 3 years, starting my own photography business, marrying the man who met all the qualities on my checklist and having the sweetest baby boy. None of this was easy. I was pick-pocketed on the Roman Metro. Teaching in an inner city school wore my heart out at one point. My photography business is tricky, seeing as how I'm a teacher and not a saleswoman. My little boy took 14 long, excrutiating months to get to me. However, there's nothing I would change about my journey. The excitement on the faces of my middle schoolers as I blew up film canisters in the classroom, the sheer joy on the faces of my photography clients when they receive their proofs, the peace and contentment I feel when I'm with my husband and watching my son learn, grow, giggle and snuggle are irreplaceable. What's next on my to-do list? Travel the world, own a pizza place, return to teaching, be paid to fly to foreign places just to take pictures, and raise my son (and hopefully more children!) to be outstanding citizens. It will be hard work, but if the hard work I've put forth in the past is any indication, I'm ready for the ride and excited for the pay off!

Why I am a Mormon

It all made sense. I learned about the church as a teenager from a friend at school. My parents had raised me and my brother to be open minded about religion and had never pressured us to have a religious affiliation. Because of that, I had developed my own faith through reading religious books and praying. When I met my Mormon friend and he began explaining what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes, lightbulbs began going off. I remember thinking, "I already believe that," over and over again. I went to church with my friend but it took me a while to read the Book of Mormon. When I finally did, on a family camping trip, and prayed about it, I finally knew that it was a real testament of Jesus Christ and that I wanted to be a part of the church that had it. The sensation that hit me was undeniable - it was a divine kick in the pants! I then knew where I needed to be. So, two years later, I officially joined the church. I had a list of seemingly never ending questions that I wanted answered and the members of the church were so patient with me and answered them all. Since my first step into a Mormon church 11 years ago until now, I have developed an undeniable knowledge that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I have an undeniable knowledge that He answers prayers and that the Holy Ghost can lead me out of bad situations or lead me to good situations. I know that Joseph Smith isn't someone we worship - he was a man chosen to restore the full gospel of Jesus Christ to us and that we will forever be grateful to him for it. I know that the Lord loves each of us and wants so badly for us to return to him and that he has given us the instructions on how to do so. My life has been so enriched by my membership in the church and my growing knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I will be forever grateful that it found me, finally. It has been my compass in an ever changing world.

How I live my faith

Since being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, most of my time has been spent with the youth! I love it, too - chalk it up to the middle school teacher in me! I have served for many years with the young women, ages 12-18. I've done my best to help them develop their spirituality, as well as helped them learn all sorts of life skills. We've done service projects, painted each other's nails, caroled at Christmas time, written letters to service men and women, studied the Bible and Book of Mormon and made toys for animals at a local animal shelter. All of my girls have been amazing - each time I meet with them I'm reminded of the reasons I need to be a good example and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ every day.
