Hi I'm Collin

I'm a piano player, ballroom dancer, I love the outdoors and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music, being outdoors, playing the piano, spending time with my family, hanging out with my friends, ballroom dancing and biology. I want to be an eye doctor some day and eventually travel the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My family has been members for generations. But why am I a member? As a boy I was taught that I would need to know for myself if the church was true. To help facilitate that my parents taught me to read from the scriptures. I knew that reading from the scriptures was very important and I kept reading as I got older. As I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if Joseph Smith was a prophet I felt a warm and peaceful feeling in my heart telling me that it is true. I was challenged to pray about it each time I finished it. I have kept that challenge and each time I still get that same peaceful feeling.

How I live my faith

I just returned from serving a two year mission for my church. It's something that I have wanted to do for my whole life. I was assigned to the Texas Houston East mission which covers from Houston over into South-West Louisiana. I have seen the gospel bless peoples lives as I have gone out and shared it with them. I'm currently working with the young men in my local congregation. I love being able to help them out and work with them. The youth of our church are great and they have a lot of potential.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

One of the great things about being a missionary is that I have saved my whole life to be able to pay for these two years. I was also blessed to have a wonderful family who also helps support me. As missionaries we put off working for two years so that we can foucus on spending our whole time serving the Lord and other people. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we live what most people would deem a "normal" life. My dad is a professor at a university, my mom is a stay at home mom, I love listening to music, playing the piano, being outdoors and ballroom dancing. Spending time as a family is really important to me. Growing up we would try our best to have dinner together amidst our crazy schedules and spend time on the weekends watching a movie or playing games. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

I have been on many different sports teams and other teams throughout my life. In all of those events there's no way I could have done any of those events by myself. Imagine going to the line against another football team all by yourself. It just doesn't work, does it? That's the way I view my family. They are my teammates and I know that they are there to back me up no matter what we're up against. My family is very important to me. I love my family and I know they will always be there for me. Our church teaches that "The family is central to God’s plan for His children. It is also the central unit of society and the means for bringing children into the world where they can be loved, provided for, and taught truth and righteousness see “The Family A Proclamation to the World”." As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we believe that the family is central to the growth and developement of a good society. Today we need more parents who are willing to teach their children basic principles of honesty, faith, love and other simple virtues that will make this world a better place. My parents have taught me what is right and someday I plan to teach my children the same thing. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

"The Book of Mormon is a volume of ancient scripture comparable to the Bible and contains as does the Bible the fulness of the everlasting gospel (Introduction to the Book of Mormon)." God loves all of his children. As such, God calls prophets among all people. The Book of Mormon is a record of the people in the Ancient Americas and contains the writings of their prophets. The Book of Mormon is Another testament of Jesus Christ. Lets imagine that Jesus Christ is on trial. The question at hand is, is he really the Son of God and did he really do the things he said he did. The Bible is called up to the witness stand and testifies very firmly that Jesus is the Christ and that He is the Savior of the World. The judge is very moved by the testimony of the Bible, but the verdict cannot be decided with only one witness. So the judge calls for more witnesses. The Book of Mormon takes the stand and affirms everything the Bible has said and adds its own witness of Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Because of the two witnesses and their powerful testimony, it can be determined that Jesus is the Christ. Now, the only thing we have to do is put the testimony of the Bible and the Book of Mormon to the test and see if what they say is true. Show more Show less
