Hi I'm Ryan

I like pie and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Oregon and I am 19 years old. I love to to sketch and draw in my spare time. In i High school I competed In Cross country and Wrestling, Wrestling being my main sport. I do what i can to help my family out, I have six sisters one brother and 4 foster brothers and sisters. My favorite memories are the long car rides I went on with my family down to Mexico. Family has played a large role in my life and is something i have truly come to appreciate since being on my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized at the age of 8 like most people who are born into the church. My conversion however did not come around until a much later time in life. I never paid attention to what I was really being taught in the church classes and seminary. It's one of those things where I went through the motions and even started to fall away from the church. I Didn't care about going to church, seminary, or just about anything else related to the church. Eventually it came to that time where i needed to make a decision. Through the help of some friends I decided to go on my mission. But my heart was not entirely in it. The changing point in my life is when I hit a low and became very sad and Distressed. So i went to my Dad, he's been a good example to me and is a worthy priesthood holder. I turned to him for help and after a good father son talking to he gave me a blessing. A blessing which can only be given from a worthy priesthood holder in the church. Almost immediately I felt a change. I no longer had any worry's or stress in my life, it was as if every bad thing, every bit of pain I felt had been lifted off of my shoulders. This is when I knew that I was doing the right thing, that life comes with its many blessings, blessings that i could have only received from being apart of Christ's true church. Now, I aim to help others to see the light and the happiness that comes with being apart of this church. In this life and the next.

How I live my faith

This is simple! I have dedicated these two years of my life to something I know to be true and can bless all of our lives. Its two years away from home, my friends, family, school, work, music, games, and everything else. I set it all aside for two years because I know that this is what God wants me to do, and you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way. This is where I want to be, this is how I want to live my life.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Ryan
Actually, a lot of people these days don't understand what a cult is. So i have listed here a few definitions of a cult, as defined by http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cult –noun 1. a particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies. 2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult. 3. the object of such devotion. 4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc. So in essence, just about every religious church or group can be defined as a "cult". If you don't know what the word venerated means, it simply means a feeling of awe or respect. However, one of the definitions of a "cult" is this: 6. a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader. However, all other churches and religious groups can also fall under this category. Though, I know that the LDS Church (Mormon Church) is not false, unorthodox or extremist. In fact, we live very conventional lives. Though i will agree that our leaders are very charismatic. They do their work as hard and diligently as possible. For they know just how important its teachings are and how this church and its teachings and doctrines can bless the lives of every man, woman, and child will listen and obey these righteous commandments of God. So its not that the church is a "cult" but that most people in today's society SEVERELY miss understand what a "cult" really is. Show more Show less
