Hi I'm Chad

I'm a musician, a student of science, and a lover of history. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a twenty-year old man from Utah. I was attending college studying to become a biological engineer, but my education is on hold currently, because I'm serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My dream would be to research plant genetics and create new kinds of plants. My greatest passions in life are botany and science, history, and music. I love playing the piano, singing in choirs, and listening to music as much as I can. My favourite genre is classical music, but I'll listen to most kinds. I love reading books--some of my favourites are Lord of the Rings (I'm somewhat of a Tolkien fanatic), The Count of Monte Christo, and most anything else espcially fantasy or historical. I love gardening, when I have the time and a place to do it.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were raised Mormon, but weren't really active in the Church after they left their homes until I was about 5. They wanted my sister baptised, and so we started going around that time. Since then I have been active in the Church. We all go through times that we question what we believe, though, and I had to know for myself that it was true. During my teenage years I had a few very spiritual experiences where I learned by the power of the Holy Ghost that this truely is the Church of Jesus Christ in my heart and in my mind. One in particular I remember is when a teacher at a youth event challeneged me to read the Book of Mormon and to pray about it. I did so that night. I had read the book a few times before this event and figured it was true--it seemed good, made sense, and I didn't see why it wouldn't be true. I did it anyway, and felt an amazing sense of joy and warmth in my as the Holy Ghost confirmed to me that the Book was true. I have had other such experiences and I can say firmly that I know that God lives and loves me. He is my father. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, my Savour and Redeemer and because of His Atonement I can be forgiven of my sins and can be saved in the Kingdom of Heaven. I know that He loves me as well. I know that God calls prophets today to reveal His will, starting with Joseph Smith--through whome He established His church in the last days--and carrying on to Thomas S. Monson today. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and blesses the lives of those who read it and live what it teaches. I also know the Bible is the word of God to us, as far as it is translated correctly. Again, I know this through the experiences I've had and the Holy Ghost telling me it is so. And that is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints currently. As a missionary, I share the message of the gospel with people and give them the chance to find out for themselves whether it is true, serve in the communities I'm living in, and do what I can to help others come unto Christ.
