Hi I'm Dayna

I'm a mom, I'm a Stepfamily Educator, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I married my sweetheart in 2008 in the Salt Lake Temple. We have one daughter, 2 years old, who is the sunshine in our home. I graduated from Utah State University in Family, Consumer, and Human Development. Attending school is one of my favorite things. I am looking forward to going back for my Masters degree. I now facilitate a Stepfamily Education class one night a week where I teach families communication and anger management skills and how to live happily in blended families. I love to travel! I have been to Mexico, Czech Republic, England, and France. I love meeting people all over the world and learning about new cultures. Reading, scrapbooking, baking, and camping are other things I love to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I love this church with all my heart. Living its' teachings makes me happy. I have been a member of the church all my life, but definately have had the opportunity to find out for myself whether or not I felt it was true. And it is! Reading from the Book of Mormon and praying to my Father in Heaven brings me peace and gives me a path to follow in this crazy world. I know Joseph Smith is a true prophet who was called to restore this church to the earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is our prophet today. I know that Jesus Christ is our Saviour and that we can live with our families again if we follow his teachings.

How I live my faith

I am a visiting teacher where I visit two women once a month and build friendships with them. I also teach the nursery class on Sundays for kids 18 months - 3 years. I pray in the morning, before meals, and at night before I go to bed. I also read from the scriptures once a day with my family. I am always trying to find opportunities to serve others. I am so lucky because I have a temple 5 minutes from my house. Attending the temple with my husband once a month is one of our favorite date nights!

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are as diverse in their interests and qualities as any other women. Some work full time, some part time, and some are full time mothers. Many pursue college educations. Mormons believe in the equality of men and women. We do believe that men have certain traits so that they can bless their families as protectors and providers and that women were blessed with other traits, such as tenderness, so that they can be the primary nurturers in the family. This does not mean that women in our church cannot work to help provide, or that men cannot play a big part in the raising of their children. It is just the primary roles that we believe are divinely given to each gender. Show more Show less
