Hi I'm Rodrigo

I'm from Venezuela, Colombia & Canada. I love languages, cultures, sports, music & school. I'm a nerd. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The third in a family of four, I am an aerospace engineer with, perhaps, too many interest for my own good. On my spare time I enjoy learning about other cultures and their languages--world diversity fascinates me. Currently, my goal is to fluently speak seven languages: Spanish (my first language), English, Japanese, French, Tongan, Chinese, and German...Woohoo! Good luck to me! I also love to play classical guitar, to sing (for fun), to go skiing, to play squash, to watch Japanese anime, to eat Tongan food, and believe it or not, I love school.

Why I am a Mormon

The restored gospel of Jesus Christ has brought to my life both clarity and purpose. As I have searched for answers in regard to true happiness, my purpose in life, and the state of the world today, it is only through sincere prayer, the scriptures, and the words of a living prophet of God, that I have found complete satisfaction and reassurance. A good friend once told me that, in her opinion, religion was created because of fear of the unknown. At times, it may seem that the wonderful news and the hopeful promises of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ are too good to be true. Fortunately, if we lack wisdom and really want to know if these things are true, we can ask God in faith and he will give us a confirmation of their reality through the Holy Ghost. It was only when I seriously took up the invitation to find out for myself whether Jesus Christ had restored His church on the earth, that I allowed my Savior to truely bless my life and to guide me by becoming and active member of His one, true church--by becoming a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Service. As I consider the world around me, I enjoy looking for ways I can make a difference as small as it may be in the life of those around me. As a Scout Leader and Youth Service Corp Advisor, I have been involved in various projects to strengthen realtionships of individuals and organizations. I have worked with 12 to 18-year-old youth to help them develop their talents through service. I have also participated in a number of international service projects including a sea turtle conservation project in Junquillal, Costa Rica, and children development programs in latin america. Jesus taught, "inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me". By serving others we serve Him. Selfless service has allowed me to experience a little bit of the love Our Savior has for all of us.
