Hi I'm Kathy

I grew up in Southern California. I love to teach, and used to teach high school math. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 29 years to a remarkable man. Three of our four children are married now, so we have 3 additional, wonderful spouses who have joined our family circle. We also have an 18-month-old grandson who is the joy of our lives!! Grand-parenting is the best!! I love to read, sew, quilt, and chat with friends and family members. I also like to exercise. I am a very social person, and love to be involved in school, community, and church events.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was eight years old. However, through the years I have come to really appreciate my membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have gained a testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ through my experiences in my life. My father was not an active member of the church while I was growing up. Thus, our family had not been sealed in the temple. Once I became a teenager, I realized how very much it meant to me that we could all be together forever. This pulled at my heartstrings, and I began to write notes to my Dad asking him to make this a priority in his life. I loved him, and he was a wonderful father. When I went away to college, I continued my communications with him on this subject. Once I became engaged to be married, I think my Dad's heart was then pricked to re-commit to the gospel and to prepare himself to go to the temple. Our family was sealed together for time and eternity exactly one month before I was sealed to my husband. I mention this, because it is the root of why we are here on earth. Heavenly Father has sent us here to gain a body, have experiences in life, to learn to hear His word and follow it, and then to ultimately return back to live with Him again--as family units. Our Savior has made all of this possible, as we all fall short each and every day. I continue to follow the teachings of my Savior because they bring joy and happiness to my life--and great peace. The great Plan of Happiness that our Heavenly Father has given to each of us on this earth is the tool for making it back to live in HIs presence. I know this to be true. I have watched others stray from the path, searching for "happiness", only to come back and realize that they already had everything they needed to experience true joy in their lives. The Gospel changes lives. It has changed my life for the better. I really do not know where I would be without the Gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

I am currently involved with teaching the children in our church--the 6-year-olds. What a joy to be surrounded by such innocence each week. A few years ago, I became involved in a community issue that needed to be addressed. I headed up a large movement to get "Playboy" magazines out of our libraries. Over the course of a few years we were finally successful. Through involving all of the good people in our community, we were able to unite together in a common cause for good. I enjoy experiences that bring communities together.
