Bryce Spencer: History, Science, Learning, Mormon.

Hi I'm Bryce Spencer

About Me

I am a history buff, political geek, scholar and follower of Christ. I like to read about history, politics ( I am a State Delegate for the Utah GOP) and philosophy. I am passionate about learning and improving myself intellectually. I also enjoy sports (basketball, football and baseball) and classical music. I played the trombone before my mission and I look forward to doing it after my mission. I grew up in Gardnerville, NV and before my mission I lived in Farmington, Utah. I recently returned from a mission in the California Los Angeles Mission. That is the greatest joy of my Currently, I am attending BYU and getting my Doctorate degree in Physics. I wish to either go into nuclear research or be a professor. In the upcoming future, I will be getting married to the woman of my dreams forever. I am excited for this new adventure in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I grew up in the Church, it comes as an imperative duty for each member to learn for him or herself that the Church is true through study and prayer. After mighty prayer as a youth, I KNOW that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's true church. I have seen the Spirit in my life bless me very much and I have felt the Spirit testify of truth to my soul.

Personal Stories

How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ. It testifies about Jesus Christ. It discusses my purpose here in life in much greater clarity than the Bible has. We learn in the Book of Mormon that our purpose in life is "a space granted unto man in which he might repent; therefore this life became a probationary state; a time to prepare to meet God". Where in the Bible does it have such clarity. As I have read it, the Spirit has testified to me about its truthfulness and has helped us know of the glorious plan of salvation, the doctrine of Christ and of what we must do to return to Heavenly Father's presence.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

As the Savior commanded the Apostles just before His Ascent into Heaven, we "Go...teach all bnations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." As missionaries, we invite others to accept the restored Gospel, which is to come unto Christ. We understand how this message can transform people and make them better and we know how many people sincerely desire to find truth. We go and help others improve their lives and they can either accept or reject our message. We are anxious to bless the entire human family with the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I have served in the Church by serving people my age and also by sharing my beliefs through missionary work. As James tells us in the New Testament, " I will shew thee my faith by my works." I try to follow the Savior's example and that is how I live my faith. Faith is much more than saying that "I believe in God" and then never acting upon it. Faith, if we want it to have saving effect, must have action accompanied with the belief. Therefore, faith is living, active belief.
