Hi I'm Jeff

I love music, guitars, camping, girls, and Jesus. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 22 years old. I am studying Psychology. I took off to years from my degree to come down to Houston, Texas to be a missionary. Here I learned Spanish and it is super awesome being able to understand and be a part of the hispanic culture considering I grew up around all white boys. I love everything outdoors. To me there is nothing better than being with a bunch of bros and spontaneously deciding to go backpacking in the wilderness for a few days. No plans necessary. I love music. I was raised off old school classic rock. If it wasn't for Rush, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd I don't know who I would be today. I am pretty sure that those groups were more crucial in my development than the cream of wheat that my mother made for me for breakfast. My mind was further blown out of the water when I discovered the music of The Mars Volta. While keeping my rock roots, I have expanded to love jazz, classical, bluegrass, latin, world, and other music. There is something about being in a venue with live music flooding through the airwaves, some type of energy that can't be found anywhere else. I eat it up. Gotta keep practicing that guitar so that it can be me filling those stadiums someday. Ha ha. Not likely.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me in this faith all my life. However, I am not a Mormon for them. I would never be of any religion for somebody else. I had to come to know that this church was true for myself and it took time. I received my answer through sincere prayer and study of the Book of Mormon. God answered through the Holy Ghost. I am a Mormon because through this church Jesus Christ has made it possible that we can return to live together as families after this life. There is nothing that I want more than to be able to have my family forever. I love this gospel because it lets me be who I am, using my personality my likes and dislikes, my strengths and weaknesses, and teaches me how I can become like the Savior and eventually live with him again. I don't have to sacrifice who I am to follow God. I can use it to follow him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith as I do the little things everyday. I am not perfect by any means. Not even close. I strive to repent of the stupid little mistakes I make daily and that gives me the sense of peace that I am becoming more like the savior. I found relief in prayer. I find that God speaks to me as I read the Book of Mormon. I live my faith as I make sacrifices when God requires, to put my will in line with his will, even if my first response is to flinch in the face of sacrifice. Partaking of the Sacrament weekly in church gives me the assurance that God is pleased with me.
