Hi I'm Kit

I'm a wife and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay at home mom, well, sort of...I'm more of a work at home mom. Most of my time is spent taking care of my children. I have 3 kids. My first is a rambunctious 5 year old who loves trains and dinosaurs. My Second is the exact opposite. She is quiet, delicate, and, oh yeah, she struggles with mild Cerebral Palsy. The day we found that out I cried, and cried... And then I realized that I love her no matter what, and that I had to move on. It was good exercise for when I had my 3rd. My 3rd baby has big blue eyes, but is deaf. Technology is a miraculous thing that has helped my deaf child hear my voice, and I will be forever grateful for that. A lot of my time is spent doing physical/speech/feeding therapy with my sweeties. When I have a minute to myself I ....well, I take a nap!! My Husband is from Colombia, so our family is a Mixed Cultural family. This, of course, presents it's own set of challenges, but we know that we are both in it for the long haul. We were married in the Temple, and I feel the blessings of the temple all the time in our marriage. Blessings in the way that it makes us a united team, because we know of the promises we made to God. Because my husband is from Colombia I have needed to learn Spanish so that I can communicate with my in-laws. So that's been an extra thing for me to work on. right now I'm reading a lot of books in Spanish to help expand my vocabulary. I love my family, and wouldn't trade them for anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be. It may seem a little simple, but I had the choice to be a member of the church, or to leave the church. It was because I decided that I really did want to live the teachings of Christ, and I really did want the blessings of heaven to rain down on me. When I came to that fork in the road I chose the path that would lead me back to my Father in Heaven and to live with my family forever. I will forever be grateful to the friends who were there with me in that moment helping me to know my options, and supporting me as I made mistakes.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing what the Prophet has asked us to. I read my scriptures, say my prayers, and write in a journal Every day. The more I do those things the more I am able to feel the spirit in my life and in my home. I feel as though the Lord is preparing and teaching me every day through my trials, and my difficulties. Doing these small everyday actions strengthens me when I feel like giving up. They are the back bone to following all the other commandments that we have been given by our Loving Prophet and Apostles and will be the staff on which I can rely when the storms of adversity rage against me.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Kit
Joseph Smith was given the revelation of the Word of Wisdom, which is a lifestyle for a healthy body and mind. We cannot have agency in this world if our bodies are addicted to stimulants like coffee, and tea, or if our judgment is impaired by drugs and alcohol. We are free by no not partaking of these things. I like that the question is why DON'T we as apposed to why CAN'T we. We can! we simply choose not to so that we can be free to be the directors of our own lives! Show more Show less
