Hi I'm Leif

I'm from British Columbia, I'm an outdoors enthusiast, I work hard and play even harder, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from a small town located in the mountains of interior BC. Growing up in this small town was a great thing. I was able to get to know a lot of really awesome people, have some amazing experiences, and enjoy the four amazing seasons of activity in the mountains and on the water, life was pretty good. I enjoy anything that gets me outside. Whether it is hiking, biking, or watersports in the summer. In the winter I enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. I love to do anything that keeps me busy and entertained, play or work.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church, but there comes a point in everybody's life, whether raised in the Church or not, when you have to decide for yourself what is right and true. It was a few years ago when I decided that it was time that I needed to know for my self. So I did some soul searching and studying and came to know that the Gospel and Church of Jesus Christ had been restored to the earth today and we can enjoy the fulness of it and the blessings that come from being a part of it.  The teachings of Jesus Christ and the organization of His Church here on the earth today has helped me and my family so much. The Gospel brings a greater perspective to our lives, the reason we are here, why we go through the things that we do, and gives us a greater understanding of who we really are. I hate to think of where I would be and what I would be doing right now if I didn't have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life.

How I live my faith

Growing up in a small town the Church wasn't very strong there. I come from a branch of 60-70 members, which gave me and my family lots of opportunities to serve. With so few in numbers there was always someone needing help with something, member or not. And we were always right there to help in anyway we could. That is a major part of living our faith, helping others in time of need. Having that Charity, the pure love of Christ, for others. It was tough growing up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There was only 2 or 3 others in my highschool. Because of this I really had to gain a testimony of the gospel early in life so that I could be strong when tempations would arise. Over time it was neat to see the change and influence I was on my friends not of my faith. They came to respect me for the things that I would and wouldn't do, they became a big support, which is what friends are for.

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

In the Doctrine and Covenants it says, "And, if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God." We believe that Eternal Life, the opportunity to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father again, is truly the greatest gift that we can each recieve. The way that we can recieve this gift is outlined and taught by Jesus Christ Himself. He showed us the way. He taught us His Gospel of Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Recieving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End. He made it all possible through His great atoning sacrifice. We know that the only way for us to obtain the gift of eternal life is by obedience to the Gospel. We will be able to live forever, reunited with our families, in the presence of God again.    Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The Prophet on the earth today is Thomas S. Monson. He is an amazing man, a great example to me of faith and selfless sacrifice for others. You can check out this link to learn more about him and the role of a Prophet in our days. http//lds.org/study/prophets-speak-today?lang=eng Show more Show less
